I've always compared Cutler to Jeff George - golden arm - but not a lick of character. And until he proves differently, that's where my opinion will reside. That knee should have been wrapped up and the Bears gone to max protection. Quality athletes and moreso leaders of teams gut that game out. You would have had to hogtie Favre to get him out of that game.

Wade, no one is asking Jay Cutler to become Sally Cheerleader, but I don't think it is too much to ask that the quarterback at least appear to care about what is going on in the game. If football doesn't get him excited or arouse his passions in any, why is he playing the game?

Why do people have jobs they dislike? Money, mostly. He makes one heck of a living. I wouldn't mind working like that for just a coule of years, even if I disliked the game.

I do love the way he stumps back to the sidelines after a bad play, with his lower jaw sticking out like James Bottomtooth IV...

Whenever I see that, I imagine him saying (in a Thurston Howell voice), "Lovie. Lovie! Those negroes are trying to tackle me!"

How do we know that he didn't care about what was going on? Because the cameras found a way to zoom on him when he happened to be sitting on the bench? Or with his arms inside his parka because it was below 10 degrees in temperature?

How do we know that said zoom shots were a representative sample of how he spent his time post-injury? How do we know it wasn't just the friggin' sports media being their usual useless selves?

Are you saying that the only people who are passionate about the game act like Ray Lewis or Aaron Rodgers? Or go around shouting and patting people on the back?

And if he's playing the game even though he's not passionate about it,well, all I can say is a lot of people work at jobs they aren't passionate about even though they get paid a lot less money.

Frankly, if someone offered me multiple millions a year to work at something I'd be seriously considering it even if it weren't my deepest passion. Because that multi millions would make possible and/or a lot easier the achievement of things that do matter to me. Things that have a bigger price tag than I could come up with in thirty years of work much less the 5-10 of the average NFL starting QB career.

I wouldn't work at a job I hate if I had Cutler's wealth. But I can certainly imagine working at a job that wasn't my ultimate passion even if I did, if I saw that passion as achievable only with it.

And I wouldn't apologize to anyone for doing so.

If people want to criticize Cutler for the quality of his onfield performance, fine. If people want to criticize him for his lack of work ethic in learning/developing his craft, I'm fine with that, too. (I wouldn't do it, but only because I don't know enough about what he does -- he's a friggin Bear, after all.) Or if he acts like an arrogant asshole or treats his teammates or coaches like shit? Fine there as well.

But criticize him because he doesn't have a particular outgoing exhibition of his emotions? Because he doesn't show his passion in a way that I would or Brett Favre would or the Archbishop of Canterbury would? Or because he isn't properly polite/political with reporters and other bacteria?

Not a chance.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

For the record, I think he cares. I think he's tough. And I think it wasn't his decision to come out of the game. I just like making fun of him 'cause he's a FIB.

Report: Cutler has MCL tear

I'm on the fence on this. On one hand I agree with Wade...I think the Derek Anderson situation is comparable. So what if the cameras caught him with a sarcastic chuckle for 2 seconds of a 1hr30min half, that doesn't tell me that he thinks losing is funny, nor do a couple of James Bottomthooth-looking shots while sporadically shown on camera necessarily vindicate or convict Cutler.

Hearing reports that he was out on the town drinking Saturday night, or that it may have only been a sprain, on the other hand, are quite damning, and he may want to hide in the Yukon for a few years if the reports are indeed true.

beast (23-Feb) : Seems like he was just pissed because he was no longer the starter
beast (23-Feb) : Campbell is right, he's rich and he doesn't have to explain sh!t... but that attitude gives teams reasons to never sign him again.
dfosterf (22-Feb) : I have some doubt about all that
dfosterf (22-Feb) : I read De'Vondre Campbell's tweet this morning (via the New York Post) Florio says that if he invested his earnings wisely, he will be good

Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : NFL informed teams today that the 2025 salary cap will be roughly $277.5M-$281.5M
Zero2Cool (19-Feb) : Los Angeles Chargers are likely to release DE Joey Bosa this off-season as a cap casualty, per league source.
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Issue should be solved, database cleaned and held strong working / meeting. Boom!
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : you know when you put it that way combined with the links it was spamming (to the official Packers website)
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yep. You can do that with holding down ENTER on a command in Console of browser
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : even with the rapid fire posts?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : I'm not certain it's a bot.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : I've got to go to work soon which is a pity because I'm enthralled by this battle between the bot and Zero
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yeah, I see what that did. Kind of funny.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : now it's a link to Wes Hodkiezwicz mailbag

Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : what's 118 (besides a number)?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : They got 118 slapped in there.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : that's why it confused the hell out of me
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : Yeah, but this is taking a headline and slapping it into the Packers Talk
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : Wasnt there a time guests could post in the help forum?
Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : lol good question, kind of impressed!
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : So how is a guest posting?
