I'm talking 18 penalties

Have they announced who the officiating crew will be? I hope it's a hands-off crew and not one like Tripplett's, which made the Steelers/Ravens game drag on interminably.

The thing is the Bears cannot score outside of what Hester contributes so if we keep him down this should be a win for us.

Hester gets the PR for one TD and sets up the other with a return to our 44 in the first game which netted the only TD's they have against us in two games.

Both QB's will get some pressure but Rodgers is very good under pressure and Cutler is not. If you thought you saw pressure on Ryan you ain't seen nothing yet because Capers knows what happens to Cutler when he's getting constant heat.

I hope to see McCarthy take it deep early as he knows he has the matchups to beat the Bears downfield and this would back the Bears off some. The Bears DB's again showed you can get over them against Seattle. I thought the Seahawks should have been taking longer shots earlier on but they just kept trying to go short and couldn't move the ball.

By the time they figured out they could go downfield they were out of the game.

The bottom line is they don't have the defenders to stay with our guys downfield and we do so the big play potential is definately on our side outside of Hester. Our kicking game is going to have to be there this week. We keep him down and we should win handily.

They won't get much in the run game against us and I doubt we do much against them. This game will be decided by who makes the big plays on offense and that happens to be where I see us with a big advantage.

I agree with Cheesy. Obviously any team is fully capable of executing on any surface, but it seems that with the Packers' would perform optimally on a field turf considering their speed and short passing game.

I agree with you on most points. However, I believe that Urlacher and Briggs deserve a mention. I think that for our offense to be successful, we will need to throw down field, like you said, to avoid these two. I think that they pose the biggest threat to our team, offense and defense both being taken into consideration.

It's going to be a nailbiter I think, but we've got this.

I think the bears are talking about the Packers because the Packers are on their minds; they are worried about them. The Packers however are focused, not on who they are playing but on playing their best and making it to the Super Bowl. You can definitely see the focus in the receiver group. The whole team is dialed in right now, peaking at just the right time.

Cautiously optimistic but I see a Packer victory. Unfortunately I won't be seeing it because my son has a basketball tournament with games at 3:30 and 6:00 PM on Sunday. CURSES!

The key is for the Packers to get something out of Starks. I think we will run straight at them rather than trying to go around them and Briggs/Urlacher is part of why. We never seem to get much going side to side and those two are very good out there. If we can get some yardage up the middle it will allow Rodgers to do his thing in pass action.

When we have trouble on offense is when the opposing team gets pressure from their front four guys and that happens when they aren't worried about the run. If we can get somthing at all out of the run Rodgers can play action out of a full backfield and hit some bombs.

There is something to be said for running it right at Urlacher. I think teams have used that tactic in the past, though I'm not sure how much success they've had with it. Urlacher's best trait is his speed, rather than his strength, so you neutralize his speed by running right at him, preferably with a fullback in front of Starks. I like this idea.

1. Packers have Rodgers, Bears have Cutler. Cutler will be over-confident in his abilities because of how he played against the Seahawks.
2. Packers defense. Tramon Williams saved the Packers defense from 10-14 points last week against a much better opponent than the Bears.
3. The Packers possible run game. Starks needs to come through AGAIN. Don't know how many of you have read the story posted on Starks, but the Bears screwed him over in the draft. Run with vengeance.
4. Special Teams. Unlike the Seahawks, the Packers are smart and do not kick it to Hester.

We kicked it to Hester during our loss.

My two concerns are three. Hester, Peppers and Urlacher. In that order. Hester is easy. Kick it away from him.

Peppers is easy too. WR and TE screens. He doesn't read them at all.

Urlacher, well, do what you can, you can't have everything. If the wind is not a factor we can throw past the LBers.

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
dfosterf (8-Aug) : Apparently it is too complicated for several to follow your simple instructions, but I digress
