Can someone check the Play By Play and see how many Starks runs went for a first down?

Thought he had a productive night. The yardage and ypc numbers won't say so, but after a rough first half where the Falcons were emphasizing keeping the Packers one dimensional he broke off some good runs to keep the offense running in the third.

This team is never going to run like it did against the Eagles, especially not since teams know it can happen. He does, however, keep the offense balanced and forces teams to respect the run.

He had 66 yards rushing and I wouldn't be surprised if that's about how many he had after first contact. He ran hard and fought for extra yardage. I just wish the offensive line had given him anything to work with. This game might have been even more of a blow out.

The run blocking was no better than it was in the first Atlanta game. The difference is that what were three yard losses for Brandon Jackson are no-gainers or even short gains for Starks. That makes a big difference, because when you consistently get negative yardage on runs, you really have no choice but to shut down the run, and obviously it puts the offense into bad down and distance situations.

That's what I was thinking when someone said the OL did well. I thought, really? I remember Starks having a helluva crowded backfield when he grabbed the ball quite often, lol.

I will concur that the run blocking was subpar from some of their efforts.. but the Oline (and backs and TE's) brought the bacon home in pass protection.

Damn fine game overall.. sure a few guys got loose or a couple well scheme blitzes left guys open.. but overall they get a A in pass protection and a C in run blocking.

How is that grade weighted, Shawn? What's the overall grade? 😉
