Okay Finland, your guy Suggs was pretty great against the Steelers. But then that Matthews guy had a nice game against the Falcons. And the Falcons have a better O-line than the Steelers.

I stand by my statement that Clay > Wake. 2 sacks today in a playoff game. That has to count for something.

I think, Harrison, Suggs, Ware are better, but think Clay is close.

I like Wake a lot, but he is not CM3. I see only Suggs as being comparable, and he certainly proved that today. Homer in me says CM3. Brain says not so sure.

Wake reminds me of KGB, but I need to see it out of Wake another year before I compare him to Clay.

OK, green and gold lenses aside here, watching the football game, you can see the QB always trying to figure out where CM3 is at all times. DCs have been especially game planning against CM3 the 2nd half of the season. Has he really fizzled or has he opened up everything for everyone else?

He hasn't fizzled - he has drawn the double team that opens up stuff for other players.

Remember the Bills game this year? I forget their QB's name, but he looked to the side, seen Clay, he literally JUMPED as if the boogie man was coming. It was Clay. I've never seen that, outside of Randy White.

Clay wins the AP award too

Statistical analysis can only be so relevant as to bring a general blueprint as to a players skill I think.

Cases in point

A fantastic wide reciever - Think Rookie to Fresh Randy Moss. If he draws double coverage at almost all times then that accounts for the bulk of his impact. He might not be making a catch, but he is taking one player out of the game in a certain way - basically removing a defensive advantage.

Nmandi - If a ball is seldom thrown at you - it will be difficult to get the highest INT total, so that's the stat column shot down - BUT - his stellar play removes offensive options because the Raiders know that the ball will seldom see his flank.

Clay Matthews has the "Gameplan for him" factor in abundance, and you could see in the latter part of the season that he was drawing more blockers, all the while not playing at peak health.

Raji and Jenkins have had stellar years, I doubt they'd have been as impactful had Clay Matthews not been a part of our team.

Some players are impactful by their sheer numbers, others are impactful in how they open up opportunities for other players, some can do both.

Matthews can do both.

No green and gold goggles.
