The Falcons game plan is simple. They are a simple team.

Put together long clock eating drives and keep the other teams offense off the field. They don't turn the ball over because they take few risks. This is evident in a stat that clearly shows what they are about:

6.5

That is 6.5 Yards Per Attempt by Ryan. The lowest of any starting QB in the Playoffs.

The challenge is that the Falcons are technically sound and perform well in an unspectacular way. In that first game Atlanta had three drives of 10, 14, and 14 plays that took up over 20 minutes of clock and produced 17 points. They did much of nothing the other times they had the ball.

The way I see it is the challenge for our defense is they have been a bend but not break type D that allows yards in the middle of the field but tightens up near the redzone. This kind of has us walking right into what Atlanta wants to do.

They need to prevent long drives by stopping Turner and forcing Ryan to throw further downfield than he likes. When Turner gets the ball I hope to see our safeties up quickly helping bring that big bozo to the ground.

I don't see Woodson blitzing much because they don't ask Ryan to hold the ball long enough. I can see him bouncing around guarding Gonzo and other WR's that they want to work the ball too not far past the LOS.

Rodgers has shown he can get to the Falcons D for plenty of yards. We just need the D to prevent long drives so we can get him the ball. I will be surprised if I don't see 11 players closer to the line then we may normally see.

I expect they will be using TE Gonzales a lot. He will be a hot read for blitzes and may try to exploit Matthews in coverage.

Look for swing passes and screens to the runningbacks getting them beyond containment and the pass rush.

That's the way I would attack the Packers' defense.

I think you're right warhawk, and as a Falcons fan I'm anxious to see how our offense will react if and when the Packers' defense takes away all of the short and intermediate passing plays.

I expect we'll see a lot of no-huddle from the Falcons. This will allow Matt Ryan to call plays based on how the defense is lined up pre-snap, which prevents us from being as predictable as many people like to claim we are.

I don't look at the Falcons as being predictable so much as being detailed oriented and doing the little things right vs. the spectacular. Ryan is going to get the ball out when and where it's supposed to go. The WR's don't have to be wide open.

Rodgers will bounce around and end up going to the 3rd receiver often. It's a different style.

I expect to see some no-huddle from the Falcons but not a lot. There's risk and reward there and they could end up giving the ball back sooner than they would like to.

I think your guy has the pressure on. #1 seed, playing at home, looking for that first playoff win. I think they will hope to get Turner plodding along and taking the pressure off.

Rodgers will be out there winging it.

My guess is you guys are wishing this was Chicago and not the Pack. No?

They are going to try to run the ball a lot and look to TG when we bring the heat. We held their receivers in check well last game minus the TD, if we can hold Turner down a little bit better and don't turn the ball over on the goaline I don't see us losing this game.

And this makes sense - if you think about how the falcons have one of the best Olines in the league 3rd(and this is probably due to the fact that like you said if ryan looks to get rid of the ball early and fast and they run the ball alot then there isnt much time for the QB to get hit or sacked).

I'll tell you what I mean. In week 15, the Falcons had been blitzed more than any team in the league. I don't know if they were still the most blitzed at the end of the year. I only know this because they showed a graphic during the game in week 15. I'm not sure where to find that statistic.

Anyway, as you said, the Falcons' offensive scheme works well against pressure. Ryan gets rid of the ball quickly, we don't look to throw down feild much, and we run a lot. Ryan's numbers show this. This   article was posted on the Falcons' message board (his link didn't work or I'd just send you straight to the source). It shows that Ryan had the highest completion percentage and quarterback rating and had been sacked the fewest times in the NFL against 5 or more rushers this season.

Why do you suppose teams continue blitzing us? That's an honest question. I guess it could be that only rushing four is so ineffective that teams feel they need to send an extra guy just to have a shot at a sack, but I believe the best way to beat us is to do what the Bucs did in our second game against them. They played a lot of zone and took away the short and intermediate passing options, trying to get interceptions and to force us to throw the ball down field. They had success with this. I fear that the Packers will do that on Saturday, and I'm anxious to see how Mularkey plans on beating them if they do.
