Nobody is biting on the run. That's definitely a sign that people are seeing what they want to see.

Ugh.. Lets try a graphical approach to counter this myth.

Presnap alignment with highlights over what PA does in this play.

UserPostedImage

1. Looking at the run fake and not the receiver.. he will be toast by the next frame. Even takes a step in.

2. Backers have bit already.. they are in man coverage.. but they are stepping into the gaps already. Note the nice sell by Wells here.. they are reading run.

3. Note that he is creeping in watching the play action. he is toast already. But having him sucked in prevents him from getting an angle post catch. TOAST.

UserPostedImage

1. Realizes it isn't a run, in same spot flat footed, game.. set.. match in coverage, Jordy has him dead to rights.

2. They are sucked so far in.. look at the space behind them.. we can run whatever we want on them in this set. Happened over and over in the game.

3. Realizes it is a fake now as well.. but he is too far in to do anything and is trying to get back into his two deep zone. He is dust.

4. Note the D end here.. he is looking in on the back.. he bit and gave Clifton a free pass on the play basically. Look at his action from frame 2 to 3.. bit hard. This is pausing the pass rush.

5. Note the other safety.. he is dropping in the two deep shell.. by design he is out of the play.

UserPostedImage

1. Since he peaked in and remained flat footed.. he is done. Toast. Fried to a crisp.

3. He is already even with Jordy with the angle in Jordy's favor.. Dust.

That my friend is what a run game and play action does for a passing game and an offense. This is what I see..

All set up by establishing the run early.

BTW.. they had ran three times on the opening drive for 10 yards, 3 ypc.. but it invoked that much on the play action...

Live action.

Beautiful visual depiction and breakdown of the play. That play action to Gordy was a poster child for the run game setting up the passing game. +1

To be fair.. it was a perfect call for that coverage as well.. but there is little doubt the role the play action played in making a 80 yard strike as well.

Thanks for the props.

Hey, I've listened to opposing coaches before the games. NOBODY is saying "we got to prepare to stop Dmitri Nance" or "we're worried about Brandon Jackson." NOBODY. Not one coach has said that. EVERYONE is concerned about Aaron Rodgers throwing for 4 TD passes and torching them.

In fact, our opponents are so concerned about that that our lousy (yes, I said lousy) RBs are still getting 3 yards here and 3 yards there.

Let's just get this straight instead of seeing what we want to see.

Now, I'm not at all arguing we shouldn't run. I'm all for Kuhn softening up the D. When he runs for 3 yards, it hurts defenders. When Nance or Jackson runs for 3 yards, it's a "so what?" Kuhn should be getting more carries. I'm under the impression that the reason he doesn't is Mike McCarthy wants Kuhn 100% for the Playoffs and if I'm right, I actually agree with Mike McCarthy.

I can go and post facts and stats like I used to but nobody reads them and I just waste my time doing that.

I liked the mix against the Gmen afterall you have to run the football to set up the pass and lest anyone forget, when you pass the football 3 things can happen and two of those things are bad.
Just keep running the damn ball.

I love how nobody bothers to read my posts. That's why I don't even bother with stats any more because nobody reads them.

Keep preaching the same cliches. Facts are facts. Listen to opposing teams coaches. NOBODY is talking about stopping Dmitri Nance and Brandon Jackson. NOBODY.

Packers pass effectively. That's what we do. Our O is led by Aaron Rodgers. To think otherwise is delusional.

Kind of along the lines of the New England Patriots. You beat their O by stopping Tom Brady. Heck, most guys at bars can't even name their RBs. Same with us.

So you didn't bother looking at the photo evidence that PA works eh, even for us.. oh well.

Throw all the stats out you want.. hell I even proved there isn't a ton of evidence pointing to passing yards or attempts to wins in the stat playground thread..

But the post above.. which you completely ignored has proof that it is effective..

Pack - I said this dozens of times now. I don't mind us running the ball and running the ball effectively I'd like to see.

My beef is the doom and gloom bs that if we can't run, we can't win. THAT is what I have the problem with. The proof I've used in the past is how many SB winners were crappier running the ball than we were yet they won the big one.

Like I've said many times, to win it all, the best strategy is to have in this order:
1) The #1 D,
2) an elite QB

A running game is nice to have but not necessary.

There is no gloom and doom.. simply if we want to keep Rodgers healthy and live up to the potential of the offense.. MM needs to remember to run the ball.. because it helps, as illustrated above, open up the pass game and assists the offensive line out in pass protection.

IMO.. you can't remain truly effective if you become one dimensional, and it doesn't mean that you have to become a run based team.. just run enough to let it become established and help you exploit the defense.

Our elite QB can't get shit done if he will running for his life snap in and out.. the running game helps your pass protection. Notice we basically neutralized a very potent pass rush defense Sunday.

Want a direct correlation and proof that teams should respect our running attack when we feed them the ball..

When our backs carry the ball more than 20 times.

We are 7-1 (Our one loss came without our starting QB)

When our backs don't run the ball at least 20 times.

We are 1-5

Hmmm interesting eh.

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
