Now before you get pissy... I would have rather we ran the ball for the yard. 😉

I may have even been ok with it had it been Rodgers going for the win but it was Matt freaking Flynn who missed several plays like that in the same game. He was accurate on the short passes even on a few that got that last drive moving but on 3rd and 1 we are going to try TWO straight passes well past the 1st down marker. That is just stupid to me.

on a short yardage play when more than likely the Lions aren't looking for it.

Are we so sure of that? Mike McCarthy has made a habit of going deep on 3rd- and 4th-and-short all year. I'm sure opposing defenses are more than prepared for it now. It's hardly a surprise to them, which is reflected in the fact that the tactic has been abysmally unsuccessful the entire season.

I don't mind an aggressive kill shot on like 1st or 2nd down but when you need just 1 yard and have a ton of time left it's just dumb.

You don't have to like the odds, it wasn't just Jennings 1 on 1 with Vasher. It was Jennings 1 on 1 with Vasher getting a pass from Flynn who had been inaccurate on every single downfield throw the entire game.

The safety was pretty deep and the middle of the field was wide open. (In case you believed throwing the ball was ABSOLUTELY necessary)

I havnt watched the game yet - but just from the statements I have read - 4th and 1 with a bomb from flynn to jennings ... that should speak louder then the result.

I got a easier play that is usually a guaranted 1st down. Quinn as a blocker and kuhn rushing away from suh for a 1st down.

4th and 1, with time to spare, I'd have rather seen a quick slant, a fake go to hook route or something. Hell, even a QB roll-out to give Flynn a chance to run for a first. I like Jennings on Vasher, but just because Jennings can torch him, doesn't mean Flynn can hit Jennings.

Flynn can hit Jennings.

Flynn is a good back up quarterback. He can move this team.

It's kind of weird having to try and explain what it's like to know what good and bad looks like in your back up quarterback in Green Bay.

There is a whole generation out there that couldn't possibly truly fathom what a sucky Green Bay back-up quarterback looks like.

...And half the old fogies that are as old or older than I am have no friggin' clue how to use a computer to tell you.

More howlin' at the moon in store for 'ol Dfoster, I reckon.

It was a decent call, especially in the context of a back-up QB at the helm. I'm actually somewhat surprised that Jennings wasn't wide-assed open.

Ballsy call. Ballsy.

Flynn's fine, fix the line.

Personally, I didn't like the call either. Would have preferred a higher percentage play.

The Packers have not shown the ability to effectively gain short yardage situations all year.

Vs. Detroit, we were down to our #3 left guard, the 4 man rush of detroit wasn't allowing our backs to even get to the LOS untouched all game, and the avg of our RBs that game was 2.7 (BJ), 1.3 (Stark), 2.0 (Nance)...keep in mind that those averages weren't typically with a loaded box.

I'm not saying the bomb was necessarily high percentage, but it's hard to convince me that a run, given all those circumstances was a substantially better option than our #1 wr vs. an aging street free agent cb.

....and let's not forget they STILL had to get the ball in the endzone which we hadn't done all day long so while getting the 1st there would have been nice the clock was against us and the odds of getting in were dwindling.

The play was there with Jennings one-on one with Vasher and as far as I am concerned it was the best shot for 6 we had or would have had even had we converted there. There is no way Detroit would have let that matchup happen again. The 4th and 1 situation put Detroit in a position to gamble some there and that for me made it the best chance we had. It was also going to be Flynn's best opportunity to step back there and deliver the ball. If we had gotten the 1st Detroit would have been all over him from there on out.

It was a gutsy call in a way but not really when you look at everything and try to figure what is the highest percentage opportunity to score a TD. I find it a little ironic that so many here blast Mike McCarthy for being too conservative and then when he calls the shot he get's thrown under the bus.

I don't know what game people here were watching but the one I saw told me if we were going to score a TD it was somehow going to happen going over the top. The Oline was performing so poorly there just wasn't much of a chance for a drive to be successful.

Zero2Cool (10-Feb) : Eagles traded up for Carter, didn't they?
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Obviously he was a huge risk but getting a top 5 talent on the dline in the mid 20s is fortuitous
Mucky Tundra (10-Feb) : Jalen Carter falling into their lap certainly helps
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : And we could only wish to have this type of D
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : It's not like Philly has had low draft picks, but has managed to get themselves a top notch pass rush. We spend so much draft capital of D
packerfanoutwest (10-Feb) : another crap halftime show
TheKanataThrilla (10-Feb) : I think it is over, but then I think of Atlanta and want Philly to go in with the same intensity in the second half
