The Packers scored too early.

They have a habit of doing this. They act like a nervous teenage boy who's afraid of spurting before he gets in the girl, so he shoves it in as quickly as possible instead of taking his time with the foreplay. Then the girl kicks out of bed in disgust, ushers him to the door, and never answers his phone calls again.

Let's not forget the defense did nothing in terms of rushing the passer or creating turnovers

Ummmm we sacked Ryan more in that game than he has been sacked in the previous 4 games, So the sack thing is wrong.

I'm just going to tip my hat to the Falcons because they did what good teams do and that is they do just enough to win.

Btw I just want to say this off topic, I am glad we played the Bills early in the year and not now. The Bills have played since week 7 alot of good teams. They lost to 8-3 Ravens 37-34, lost to 7-4 Chiefs 13-10, Lost to 8-3 Bears 22-19 and just last week lost to 8-3 Steelers 19-16. It must be tough to be a Bills fan. Just something I found interesting that the Bills also have lost 4 games by 3 points but against all division leaders.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

We ran 5 minutes off the clock...I was actually impressed at that. Still could have done more than that. Oh wait, we can't run the ball so no we couldn't.

That drive was executed very well.

We did score too early. But I put that on the defense, not the offense.

I thought the pressure was okay. I think the Falcons did a great job of neutralizing Clay Matthews. The Packers are arguably the best defense in football, when Matthews is running on full.

He wasn't against Atlanta and Tyson Clabo is a reason why. He did a great job on him and the Falcons did a nice job game planning around him.

It was interesting to see Capers suggest he might play more coverage this week instead of bringing pressure.

That should tell you the respect he has for Ryan - the Falcons don't have much besides White.

First off, I think this QB talk has hijacked a thread with a subject bemoaning our Special Teams.

So, I continue off topic with aadp's quote above. It seems everytime Dom decides to drop back in coverage (i.e. both Minny games last year) we suck and lose games. I liked some of the early pressure we put on ATL but we didn't seem to follow through. Whereas, I think that ATL was effective at getting pressure because they didn't have to respect the run (we had none).

Anyone else see this happening?

Bottom Line for all this, to me, is that despite our great efforts and a brilliant drive at the end of the game, we were still outplayed. We also didn't seem to play our best ball. Upshot is that if we played well in all aspects (run, pass, D, ST, etc) we would have won. We're a great team when we fire on all cylinders. This Sunday, we didn't. And we were still darned good. Almost good enough.

One thing to note is they lost 3 special teamers all pretty early on. I'm sure that hurt a bit to have less experienced guys in there.

We just lost after ARod just took us on a "game winning" drive......

Fuck you special teams.

Is this fucking 2008?

Now there is an insight I could get from any drunk fan at the game, or in any sports bar.

A Brilliant and educational point topped off with remarkable insight..

Thank you for that.

You made me a wiser and more knowlegeable football fan.

beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!

Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State

Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
