People keep blaming McCarthy for the non challenge on Gonzalez's catch...it wasn't his fault. Nobody upstairs gave him the info to challenge it. They didn't show the replay on the screen so he didnt even know it was questionable.

So there is no reason to wonder when the team is lining up quickly to run another play? Seriously.. it was a gaff IMO, especially that close to the half with timeouts to spare. My opinion on a big play as such, with the opposing teams reaction.. you at minimum take a timeout to take a closer look at the play, especially if you haven't gotten a look. And how much of a delay is there when the TV audience could see it? You mean we aren't using their footage as well in the booth?

From what McCarthy seems to be implying (when asked about it in the post-game conference), the TV feed is delivered in the coach's booth lags behind the feed the TV audience gets. Which wouldn't surprise me, considering the Packers were playing in an opponent's stadium.

Again, the only indication McCarthy seems to have had that there may be some suspicion of the catch was Collins signaling that to him. At least that is what I gather from what McCarthy and Nick Collins said, so it is kind of unfair to expect him to do all he could to try and challenge the play.

If the coaches' feed is delayed (which strikes me as fundamentally unfair, by the way), why not have someone on the horn the entire game, watching the game from home? That person can instantly notify the coaches if there is a questionable call in time for the red flag to be thrown from a position of strength.

I am baffled that someone on the Packers doesn't have access to the Network feed. I have to wonder if it is an NFL policy.. or their is just that much delay in the broadcast.

"Watching the coaches' film this morning, you can't tell that it's a catch or no catch," McCarthy said. "But my understanding was a play or two later, whatever the timing was, when it finally did come in the box, that there was movement on the catch, and that's really off of a TV angle, a totally different angle that we did not have access to."

I'm not sure either. I'm just thinking that because time was a factor, it was no surprise to see them go no-huddle on that play. You often see a team make that switch after picking up a first down. They waited several seconds before snapping the ball anyway.

Exactly! In this era of mobile telephony, why not have someone at home watching the game and keep them on the line for the duration of play? Heck, even a quick text message could do the trick, though the SMS system is known to get queued up (sometime times I don't get texts until the day after they're sent).

Every failing was very expensive against a very good team.

We have them all the time, but a short memory when we win.

Hats off to the Falcons, but DAYUM, who was that LB that face-masked?

I at least like to know who to whine about, lol
