Here's my answer if farve should start:

If I were a viking fan I would not care who would start.
Look Jackson is not gonna cure the vikings at all he'll play no better than farve but worse and more rusty he hasn't started a game since what 2008 and he lost his job to Gus Fagget.

I don't care who starts for the vikings if I was a vik fan because their season is over.

haha ya - maybe Id wish theyd lose all the rest of the games so they would get a good draft pick 😉 ... if I was a fan ...

but whatever still think they should stick with farve until proven otherwise - if he still performs like crap after chilly is gone ... then wtfe

I don't understand how this could be construed as the right thing for the Vikings to do. If the Favre experiment didn't work under Childress, why would it work under Frazier?

"Nonstopdrivel" wrote:

Probably because the owner said to start him. He IS getting paid something like 20 million this year and Zigy doesn't want him 'making' that money riding the pine.

The guy's got 6 games left in his career. Let him start them, barring any injury.

Also, "losing the locker room" is one of the most over used cliches in sports. Childress didnt get fired be cause he lost the locker room; he got fired because he lost too many games.

"IronMan" wrote:

?? Did you see the MN sideline this past game?

That is why Chilly got fired. Not because of the W-L column, but because of how the team imploded with the talent that almost made the Super Bowl last year. If Chilly were to get fired because he lost too many games, he would have been fired in year 1 (6-10).

My thinking is that the Vikings have already sold their souls for Favre, and this is not the time to shake things up. Benching Favre would be a huge distraction for the new coach.

Also, the Vikings' downfall this year is not just Favre's fault. If Frazier is going to bench Favre, there are several other players he could bench. For now, he needs to play the hand he was dealt. Big changes will happen next year, beginning with a new QB but a lot of other players as well.

Their future is either in the draft or on a different NFL team right now. They need to focus on winning games. Favre is the best option for that reason. Remember, Green Bay was 4-8 in 2006 and they stuck with Favre. The result was a four game winning streak,
Childress loss the locker room, but I don't believe Favre has for a moment.

"IronMan" wrote:

Yeah they stuck with Favre in 2005 too. 30 turnovers later....

Why have they lost so many games? Because Favre, game after game, keeps throwing game changing interceptions. He leads the league in interceptions, and is 31st in qb rating. He's absolutely horrible. Thats your best chance to win? Come on man. He's one of the biggest reasons why they haven't won games.

"porky88" wrote:

Bingo. They're keeping him in because he's Brett freaking Favre and he wants to keep his streak rolling (and obviously Chilly wasn't the only one who sold his soul to the Favre-il). Jackson may not be great, but this year Favre's a turnover machine - any other QB would have been pulled long ago.

The fighting on the sidelines......like i said before, winning cures everything.
Was it Chilly losing the team?
No....it was players not doing their jobs, and blaming each other.
But the coach always gets blame, or credit, depending on how the W-L record is.

Coaching in the NFL is more important than in any sport. How can you win games when the players don't listen to the coach? It isn't a coincidence that players respect the all-time greats like Lombardi, Walsh, Parcells and Belichick.

Childress is/was the worse coach in the league. He is absolutely terrible. They won last year in spite of him and they loss this year because of him.

He gets Randy Moss and uses him as a decoy rather than a weapon. He doesn't know how to handle or use Favre. The idea that they don't communicate on a regular basis is laughable. He takes AP out on the most important down in football. He's thrown players under the bus.

The Vikings are a very talented team. There is no excuse for their losses. Favre is just one player. You can pin the loss against the Packers on him, but Green Bay scored 31 points. That is too many if you're the Vikings. When teams quit, that is on the coach.

Minnesota quit.

As for Favre. He's played awful. Enough to lose his job? Yes, if Minnesota had a good backup QB. Tarvaris Jackson is not a good backup QB. In fact, he's a terrible QB. Right now, Leslie Frazier needs to win that team's respect. Starting Favre does it. Starting Jackson probably doesn't.

Favre keeps them losing, he should start. It delays the development of Webb. It is another good thing for us. Favre should drag then down as far as he can. Keep him in. I am all for it.

Have him set a 300 career starts record with the worst season as a 16 game starter ever. Great legacy. I would hate to miss out on a chance to see it.

It will make the last 16 starts a joke. Under a 70 rating and over 30 turnovers just to get to 300 would be great. Maybe he can finish up 3-13. One can always hope.

I can't make excuses for Favre. He's been having a terrible year. However, he has shown that at any time, he can pull off games. He came pretty close to beating us the 1st time this year, and we're an elite team.

You won't get that performance with TJ. You just won't.

Frazier right now is playing for a HC job (including the other 31 teams, well, realistically, about 10 teams that may or may not can their coaches). He needs to win games because while your resume is based on your skill sets you've developed over the years, his resume is based on Ws vs Ls.

It's in Frazier's best interest to start Favre. If Favre is sucking, pull him. If not, keep him in until the end. But even the former is hard to say because Favre took awhile to get going in the Arizona game. You never know when Favre will throw 150+ yards and 2 TDs in one quarter.
