Why can't it be a key match up??I mean its not the most important but hell man if they can run the ball all over us that will be a problem just because we won the game last time when they ran the ball well doesn't mean its not a key match up.

It depends how you define "key matchup." I was thinking that in the article they meant it was THE key matchup, since it was the only one they mentioned. But I guess if you assume that there are several key matchups, then this could be one of them. The phrase loses a lot of its meaning when you get to that point, though.

I think we can stop AP and Farve. The only reason he had 131 yards the first game was that Raji had to play every down in that game with Wynn and Wilson(?) on the line with him. With Pickett, Jenkins, Raji and the former jet (forgot his name) we can shut AP down.

Also think with our secondary and pass rush we can give farve fits. Looking forward to more dominating defense in this game.

I actually do think stopping AP is the key matchup to this game. If we don't stop AP then that sets up the play action and all hell could break loose. I'd rather shut AP down and make Favre beat us through the air considering he's only been able to do that against Arizona.

The Packers did a pretty good job shutting down Adrian Peterson last year. They lost both times. They have failed to shut down Adrian Peterson in the 5 remaining games they have faced him -- and have won 4 of them. There is plenty of evidence to support Greg C.'s position. There's very little for the other.

Yep, it gets to a point like this:

Key matchups:
Brandon Jackson vs Vikings Run D
Aaron Rodgers vs Vikings Pass D
Adrian Peterson vs Packers Run D
Brett Favre vs Packers Pass D
Vikings STs vs Packers STs

It's pointless.

We need to shut down Favre. AP had 172 all purpose yards (131 run, 41 catch) last game, but ultimately, it was Favre losing the game for them. We need to constantly pressure him. It doesn't matter if AP CAN win the game for them, Favre won't let that happen. He needs to be the one to do it. He always says that he doesn't even think about the GB games as more important. Bull shit. These are the most important to him, just like they are the most important to us. He wants to win this game, and he wants to be the one responsible for it. We need to focus on Favre and shut him down once again for this game to go our way.

I have said many times (and have been ridiculed for it) that APs impact is overstated.

First I will say that if AP has as long of a career, he will rival Barry Sanders, who I thought was the greatest.

THe problem with the "break away" running back is that they get little or no gain for 90% of their carries and build up their Per Carry average on a couple plays a game.

The consequences are they can't grind out the clock, keep the chains moving and wear down Ds. They also can't pick up critical yards on 3rd or 4th down or on a goal line situation. Any coach who know what is going on will not have them in on critical downs.

The best use for a back like that is to run him on first and second down and hope he breaks one. The problem is you get a lot of 3rd and longs.

The key to beating a team like that, limit the break away runs to yardage and no score by keeping him in front of you. Pressure the QB on 3rd and long and keep the conversions to a minimum.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.

Adrian Peterson will never rival Barry Sanders.

Peterson is power with speed.
Sanders was finesse with quickness.

beast (35m) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (35m) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (10h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (10h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (12h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (13h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Zero2Cool (14h) : Thank you
wpr (14h) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (14h) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (14h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (14h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (14h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (15h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (15h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (15h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (15h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (15h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
