Even Barry Sanders had haters. Haters hate, its all they know how to do and they don't appreciate life. Scum.

Starks post-practice interview

Not entirely sure he didn't do a line of coke just before the interview!

He's a hard interview to watch. Hopefully he's more comfortable carrying the ball than he is speaking in front of a camera. 🙂

I am sure he is nervous as hell in that interview.. imagine the first time you would be boxed in by Mics... I would be stammering like heck. Either that or making them back off and out of my personal space.

Yes.. I have an extended personal space box.. and have issues with who is inside it.. think bull in a china shop. lol.

Like Zero stated... hopefully he totes the rock more comfortably than in front of the cameras.

I am hoping he is more of a Terrell Davis than an AP. AP has way too many runs under 3 yards and pumps up his per cary average on 2-3 big carries a game.

That is why he gets taken out when you need to produce. In the first 3 quarters, you can feed AP the ball and eventually he breaks one. But 3rd down in the 4th quarter, when you have to get 4 yards and you have one shot at it, AP is not the guy you want in there. He will not get it 9 out of 10 times. His value is in the break away run, that is where he is effective. The problem is, it's a low percentage shot. That is why they have failed at short yardage so much this year. They don't have an experienced 3rd down and short yardage back.

Grant had solid consistent production with few breakaway runs. With that we can move the chains, grind out long drives and eat up clock.

Peterson can't do that. Production wise he is more like Barry Sanders. Who, as we all know, did not win a ring. Even though he is the best running back ever. In my opinion.

I would rather they get a ring.

Are you seroius?

You are comparing AP and Davis and hoping Starks compares to one of them???

AP - 1st rounder out of OU played in the Big 12
Davis - 6th rounder out of UGA played in the SEC
Starks - 6th rounder played in the Mid america Conference

Is there really a comparison? I am just hoping the kid can stay on the field and healthy. anything after is all good.

No. Not good enough. He's either the OROY or he's another colossal Ted Thompson draft reach/failure/bust.

I think especially being Packer fans, we always feel that need for an all star back and we get that feeling that our back isnt good enough because we sit there and watch the things AP does and wish that we had him.

Thats a great point that has humbled me, as I hope it humbles others. Statistically, Grant did great, and so has Jackson thus far. They both still had haters. Myself included. I'm going to have to keep this in mind in the future. AP is a freak of nature, and I can't always expect the Packers players to be up to the level of the top player in the league at each given position.

Great post all around, thank you.

Another point to remember (and believe me - I love RBs, so this is a mantra I've had to repeat to myself often): As zombieslayer will happily point out, the Packers are a passing offense - as awesome as it would be to have an AP or the like, that guy would be wasted in this offense. It's predicated to work the run in enough to keep defenses honest and open up some play-action possibilities. Even if Starks was the second coming of AP, he'd never look like it stats-wise, because he wouldn't be the focus of the offense. Much like last year people were wondering if AP had lost a step, when what happened was that the Vikings shifted the offensive focus to Favre.
