A 6th round pick isn't exactly a gamble though and I haven't seen anyone predict anything remotely closed to sliced bread on here.

I think most of the "excitement" just comes from the fact that he's the first real offensive skill position player we've added in 2 years.

I think I am optimistic about him purely based on his college tape... Dude was pretty ridiculous with the ball, definitely an AP look to him but no one is making that comparison as of now, ha. Jackson has done a fine job and Grant statistically has always been good for us, but I think especially being Packer fans, we always feel that need for an all star back and we get that feeling that our back isnt good enough because we sit there and watch the things AP does and wish that we had him... Starks is that hope, and until he proves that he isnt that talent, we shall be excited.

Thats a great point that has humbled me, as I hope it humbles others. Statistically, Grant did great, and so has Jackson thus far. They both still had haters. Myself included. I'm going to have to keep this in mind in the future. AP is a freak of nature, and I can't always expect the Packers players to be up to the level of the top player in the league at each given position.

I am hoping he is more of a Terrell Davis than an AP. AP has way too many runs under 3 yards and pumps up his per cary average on 2-3 big carries a game.

That is why he gets taken out when you need to produce. In the first 3 quarters, you can feed AP the ball and eventually he breaks one. But 3rd down in the 4th quarter, when you have to get 4 yards and you have one shot at it, AP is not the guy you want in there. He will not get it 9 out of 10 times. His value is in the break away run, that is where he is effective. The problem is, it's a low percentage shot. That is why they have failed at short yardage so much this year. They don't have an experienced 3rd down and short yardage back.

Grant had solid consistent production with few breakaway runs. With that we can move the chains, grind out long drives and eat up clock.

Peterson can't do that. Production wise he is more like Barry Sanders. Who, as we all know, did not win a ring. Even though he is the best running back ever. In my opinion.

I would rather they get a ring.
