Of course, he would be trying to learn the playbook with the Packers as well, and if opposing defenses are able to hold him to 2.8 yards per carry because they see him as a threat, well, that's still 2.8 yards per carry, which is absolutely awful.

It is, but then again it's only been a few weeks. He had better success in Buffalo earlier on in the year. He ran decently well against us in the 2nd week. If we had brought Marshawn along, I didn't expect him to be an immediate factor either. But in the coming weeks I'd expect alot more out of him to prove his value. I know he's more than capable of being a good NFL RB.

edit - And yes, Jackson is a good receiving threat. That's been one of his main qualities since arriving here.

That is all I have to state on the matter.

What is not to like about these stats?

"British" wrote:

The stats are not the problem, it's the fact that B-Jack simply lacks the speed to get to the outside and be an actual threat to score a long rushing TD.

B-Jack has been hampered with McCarthy's penchant for abandoning the run, as teams have been inviting the Packers to try and run on them.

B-Jack also is hampered by his lack of speed to go outside, to get to the second level quickly, and to create separation after he beats a player.

He's done as well as could be expected considering his own limitations and those that result from McCarthy's play calling... but he still leaves something to be desired. For the record, Lynch could have brought a bit more speed, but as Greg mentions he'd also have to get used to the playbook and Lynch would hardly be a candidate to make an impact getting 10-12 touches a game.

He certainly is, but you also have to factor in that dude has been trouble off the field. Being involved in a hit and run? Illegally carrying a weapon. Allegedly being involved in theft and threatening the person he stole from.

Another strike against him and he could've very well been suspended for a good chunk, if not all, of the season.

What the heck is a "ligament running game"?

In Buffalo last year, the running back in front of and behind Lynch averaged 4.5 per while Lynch averaged 3.8 per. I don't believe it when people try to tell me he didn't suck.

He is not worth the 4th and the conditional Seattle paid for him and he definitely is not worth out bidding Seattle with a 3rd to bring him here. That is even assuming Seattle doesn't up the ante on us and go even higher.

I can't be the only one who sees that wen we try to run outside, there are always defenders in our backfield blowing up the play. No RB is going to gain squat for positive yards in those situations. Not Grant, Not Peterson, not Jackson.

Lynch would have been a waste of a pick. He is not better than Jackson and more than likely worse with his lack of knowledge of our offense.

Well, there is more time for Lynch to prove himself this season, so we'll see how he does. But his career seems to have stalled, for whatever reason. I'm always leery of trading something of value for a player whose career is not moving in the right direction.

It would sure be nice to have a RB who can actually CATCH the ball. Besides the one on PUP right now. But why give up a third for someone you're only gonna give like 8 carries a game?

"Packers_Finland" wrote:

You're not making any sense. Brandon Jackson is an excellent recieving RB.

He doesn't make a habit of tipping the ball up to the defender anymore, if that's what you mean. I wouldn't say he's "excellent," though. Another thing about Lynch is he's got enough speed to get to the corner.

Last week and the one prior Brandon surprised me with his burst to the outside. I believe it was on a screen pass. He can motor, if he has the room to do so.
