You're right that the team nearly won the 'fins/skins games, but they arguably should have lost the lions/eagles games with how they played in the 2nd half.

As for the health, I agree. My knee jerk thought is the steelers. They win the SB, Polomalu (sp?) goes down last year and they're an avg. team...then this year they're SB favorites again. The Colts have had similar dips and dives. Every team has some injuries that they contend with, so you have to keep that in mind as we bitch about it, but we also can't stick our head in the sand and say our success is independent of the unprecedented plague of injuries the team has been cursed with.

So to put it very simply, before all the injuries, they were 2-1 in close games. Since the injuries, they are 0-2 in close games. It looks an awful lot to me like the injuries are having an effect on the outcomes of games.

There is no doubt in my mind that we are losing because of injury. Actually, I'll go as far as saying it's the only reason we lost to the Dolphins.

We were missing Pickett and Neal which put CJ Wilson into the fire. We couldn't stop the run all day.

Injuries are not an excuse, they are a reason.

Pittburgh is a classic example of how injuries impact an otherwise good team. They were a Supper Bowl quality team, they suffered some key injuries and didn't make the playoffs last year.

It makes the 11-5 season for the Packers that much more amazing because they survived as many injuries as they had.

It is not coincidental that the best season the we had in the last 5 years was also our least injured. Which also lead to better ST that year.

Agreed, the 96 team was a great team that had very few key season-ending injuries, aside from Brooks, and not-so-conincidently, they won the Dinner bowl.

'10 has had 9 players lost to IR/suspension only 1/3 of the way through the season. Couple that with injuries to Matthews, etc. and the packers are relying on some of their 60-70th best players. That's not a winning formula.

Three names: Bruce Wilkerson. Andre Rison. Eugene Robinson.

A good team adjusts/has personnel available to fill in when a player isn't performing (Wilkerson) or goes out and gets them (Rison, Robinson) when a key player goes down.

I'd have a lot more sympathy for the injury argument had our GM a better track record (a) for building an OL (much less one with real depth), or (b) willing to go out and fill in the gaps that arise.

Yeah, except that pesky little rule that limits rosters to, ahem, 53 players.

Robinson was not an injury substitution. He has nothing to do with this.

As for Wilkerson and Rison, they were not added until December. In the Internet age, a lot of fans would've been screaming for Ron Wolf's head long before then.
