What the heck?

Superbowl team???
MVP QB??
ProBowl corners?
ProBowl receivers?

I maybe overreacting a little, but I think(as we've posted in other posts)
The news has been overHYPING our team.

Our offense was supposed to be unstoppable, but we have not
been able to do anything substantial. I am a very concerned as a fan.

You all know me as the old school CAL supporter of Aaron, but man...
he just does not resemble the player that I admired before.

His fundamentals in the Redskin game were ALL OVER THE PLACE.
His footwork was chaotic, his throws were low and to the ground,
and his delivery is off balance. He's doing a great Alex Smith
impression right now and it's pissing me off.

He needs to keep his fundamentals and be the precision QB he was showing in the preseason. I dunno if he's doing this because of the OL, out of pressure to take the responsibility because RG went down, or he's trying to prove himself after criticizing McCarthy....he is looking less and less like an MVP and more and more like Derek Anderson.

Driver and Jennings. WTH??? Where's the separation?
The drops and the fumbles...not Superbowl worthy.

The injuries are just adding the the fire. We canNOT lose Finley,
but then again..Aaron's been eyeballing him on plays and telegraphing
his throws(ala Alex Smith again).

I dunno guys. I am at a loss. I didn't expect this kind of
lack of effectiveness against the redskins. I really thought this team
was going to decimate people.

Just having trouble facing the reality, that they may indeed be....

MEDIOCRE.

Say it ain't so.

You make an interesting point about Aaron's fundamentals. That could, for the most part, explain some of his drop off in accuracy this year.

I might have to focus more on that going forward.

Although I am not so sure that separation from the WRs is an issue....

Yes, I have noticed this too throughout thee season. I can't understand why McCarthy hasn't addressed or noticed these problems yet himself.

The only thing I am frustrated with is McCarthy play calling. With the lose of Finley and Lee, screwing up the game plan and the defense already beat up, there is one simple thing to do.

Run the damn ball. I don't think they ran once after the 1st two drive of the 1st half. Pretty much the same for the 2nd. Runs early than nothing, until the end to attempt to kill the clock.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

Agreed AADP, separation not the issue, but as posted on other threads, some key drops.

The accuracy or lackthereof from Aaron IS alarming.
There was a throw he tried to make in the 4th quarter to thread it in between
the cover2, and it went right into the corners hands and not into GJ's..
Aaron was lucky that wasn't intercepted.

The interception in OT was the exact same throw. What was a very accurate throw in previous games(a relaxed release, w/high velocity/accuracy) looked rush, fundamentally sloppy(that
's why he resembled #4 to some people)...and inaccurate.

If Aaron's going to try and do his Favre impression, don't try those throws...you can't SLING the ball into a window like that. Brett
was a 50/50 gambler on timing cover2 throws and he only got his 50 because he had otherworld arm strength in his youth.

Aaron cannot generate that kind of power/accuracy by SLINGING.
He has to be compact, fundamentally sound, and deliberate.
If he ignores WHAT GOT HIM HERE..and tries to SLING the ball,
he loses all his advantages, his ball flutters, shoots low, and he
looks mediocre.

NFL defenses can eat that alive.

I just want to see which QB is the real Aaron Rodgers.
This week and last week have not been encouraging.

Yes, I watch Rodgers' fundamentals closely, and they have taken a significant nosedive. But not enough attention is being paid, in my opinion, to just how bad this offensive line is playing. People look at the sack count, see that it's gone down, and assume the offensive line is playing better. They fail to notice how much of that reduction is directly due to Rodgers' own efforts: his attempts to get rid of the ball faster (resulting in more interceptions) and his frequent rollouts (resulting in more balls thrown away). Rodgers is getting hit and hurried a lot, but because by that moment he's usually gotten rid of the ball, the pressure isn't reflected in the sack counts. But his happy feet are returning, and it's unnerving to say the least. It's becoming increasingly apparent that he has no confidence whatsoever in his offensive line.

As I said to Zombieslayer after the game, there is no bigger Ted Thompson supporter on this forum than I. However, I have been banging the drum for at least three years now over the need to a) jettison the old guard (no pun intended) on the offensive line, as well as the offensive line coaching staff; and b) bring in new offensive line talent with better fundamentals and more importantly, better availability. Maybe Ted Thompson has brought in adequate talent and the coaching staff isn't able to prepare them adequately. In either case, the job is not getting done. As far as I am concerned, this is Ted Thompson's last year of grace. If this team rolls into camp next year with a stable of offensive linemen that resembles in large measure the line of this year, I will be off the Ted Thompson bandwagon.

It is the job of the General Manager to bring in talent. It is the job of the coach to prepare that talent to win games. For the remainder of the year, I will be evaluating Ted Thompson's performance not on the number of wins and losses, but on the performance of the offensive line. If he doesn't make significant strides in the offseason to rectify this glaring deficiency -- and that means, at the bare minimum, cutting ties with both Clifton and Tauscher -- he needs to go.

Maybe the offense has some sort of tell.
