I'm not anti-celebration. I'm anti-choreographed/planned celebration.

Go wacko jumping up and down. That's cool. Plan it with your "audience" in mind, and it's not.

Now maybe the girls/gay guys see this differently, but to me, the only spandex dance routines I want to see are by girls.

Seriously.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I think they do their celebration thing to 1)keep the intensity up when they're doing well and 2)to help raise the intensity a little when they're not playing well and need a boost.

I have no problem with either, though I do prefer Driver, Matthews, and Rodgers' move much more than Barnett's and Raji's. That's just a matter of taste though. If it helps them, even in the smallest way, to keep up or raise the intensity I'm all for it. Whatever works.

Why don't you like Raji's? I like it..

No real reason. Just don't care for it. There's no accounting for taste, after all.

There is fun enough in watching Matthews get a sack or Aaron toss a TD. I get no extra satisfaction from seeing them strut around. I have never heard the crowd yell after a sack and yell even louder because of the post sack dance.

I'll admit I was (and still am) a fan of the Gravedigger celebration. However, can't stand the T-Bucks of the world and other players (why do they always seem to come from Florida State??!!) who excessively celebrate after every play as if they just won the championship. Have always liked the class of the guy who gets in the end zone or makes the big play and then casually gives it to the ref as if it were an everyday/every-play occurrence.

So I think that puts me in the Zero/Barry Sanders camp. Save it for the really exciting important plays and make it spontaneous. When folks have to plan to put a Sharpie in their sock (clever as it may be) it seems a bit contrived. A lot of these guys are looking to "build their brand" by coming up with their trademark moves. Would prefer to see they focus on the team and have a whole unique team celebration (a la the Lambeau Leap) than the individual thing.

I pretty much agree with not liking the celebrations after average plays.

But I have to say, I HATE Rodgers' belt celebration. You are not the champion (yet(hopefully)). To me there is a difference between what Matthews does and the belt. Matthews says (to me) I just made a great play and I'm excited. Rodgers comes across as arrogant, I/We are the best.

Mucky Tundra (10h) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals

packerfanoutwest (15h) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (16h) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
