One thing I did notice...and correct me if I am wrong, but were there ZERO holding penalties called?

I do remember one holding call on us. I can't remember who it was on, but I do remember that I didn't agree with the call.

Wow I just realized how many times I said "remember" in 2 sentences there.

If you're thinking of the one by Donald Lee (that's the only one I remember), it was a very easy call for the refs. Got out of his stance late and had to hook the guy to keep him from blowing up Starks in the backfield.

That may be the one, but I might have been pretty fired up because of the terrible facemask call on Crabtree, therefore I disagreed with everything the refs called against the Packers at the time.

I thought Swain was a catch, but that's probably only because Jennings recovered. If the Steelers had recovered, I'd have been screaming no football move therfore no catch.

yeah I have stayed pout of the discussion in the past because I felt the same way.

as far as Collins celebration, I wish players would just toss the ball to the ref and head over to the bench. I don't need to see any chest pounding or worm dancing to be excited that we just scored 6 points.

Williams' penalty. I know it is allowed but if the NFL was going to add a new rule I wish it was that the kicking team can not grab or shove or in any way force a return team player onto the ball. That just seems wrong. Twice in the playoffs that has come back to bite GB in the butt. Williams' penalty and a fumble when Bigby? was shoved onto the ball. If anything should be considered unsportsmanlike conduct that should be. (I am a little uncertain where I would draw the line. I can see how a return player who is blocking the cover team player and hits the ball could cause the ball to be live but not someone who is just standing there out of the way and they grab him and drag him over to the ball.)

Personally I had no issue with Williams in his reaction.. although next time just shove him back verse taking a swing.

Take note of the number and make sure to pop him on the next special teams play.

One of the most basic things a football player has to do during any play is to know where the ball is, so he shouldn't allow himself to be pushed into it. Tramon knew where it was, and all he had to do was get away from it, like every other punt returner in the league does when it is rolling on the ground.

I don't know why Tramon suddenly turned into such a bonehead on punt returns during the last two games of the season (three muffs and a 15 yard penalty), but thankfully he continued to be as smart as ever on defense. Now let's hope Ted can get a real punt returner next year.

There seems to have been some confusion in this thread, so just to clarify: A player is allowed to go to one knee after a play (as in prayer -- Jennings does it all the time), but not to two knees, which is what Collins did. The video footage showed that very clearly. It was at the moment he hit his knees that the officials threw the flag.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
