Was reading this article:

http://gazettextra.com/news/2010/oct/06/hang-help-way-packers/

Am I wrong in thinking that we just need to hang on until week 7 because we will be much stronger in our secondary?

To be honest, seeing the trade for Moss and Lynch has me getting impatient with Thompson. I know that we did not need an additional WR but it hurts seeing a big rival getting critical support in a position where they have some injuries. Maybe Thompson thinks that we have the depth with our 3 players coming off the PUP soon.

Dyeah - See Pack93z's 1996 thread. A good read and that will be a very relevant comparison.

I don't mind tagging this with that post but I though the topics were different in that mine addresses optimism that we will be getting some significant support when our 3 players come off the PUP.

Harris, Bigby, and Starks could all provide significant help. It will take them at least a couple weeks to get up to speed, and maybe it won't happen at all for them this season. And Starks, of course, is an unknown commodity as an NFL player. But I think that at least one of these three players is bound to give us a boost. I would be very happy if two of them did, and all three would be outstanding.

I think we are wise not to have any expectations of the players coming off the PUP. Of the three, Starks probably has the best chance of making an impact. I fervently hope Harris doesn't crack the starting lineup. If that happens, this team is in serious trouble.

Starks is definitely a wild card. You are right as well in that all 3 cannot even practice until after week 6 so we probably really looking at week 8 or 9: most likely after the bye if all goes well. I think if we can go 3-2 into the bye I think we will be in pretty good shape for the final push to the playoffs. Unfortunately that means that we need to beat either the Vikings, Jets or Cowboys on top of beating both the skins and the fins.

Al Harris will be a boost. He is an improvement over Pat Lee, Sam Shields, Jarrett Bush, and probably Underwwod.

Starks will be a huge boost. Certainly better than Nance and faster than Kuhn.

Bigby will be the last to return. He will be an upgrade over Martin when fully recovered from surgery.

I fail to understand all this Starks bravado.. the kid hasn't played a snap of ball since the 08 season.. meaningful ball anyway.

Could he.. perhaps.. but banking on him to be a guaranteed boost over a kid that had played ball in the past year.. I just don't understand.

Starks has been studying the system since OTAs. He is going to have more knowledge plus watching it live. He was able to attend all work outs and meeting, just not actual practice. I don't think it should take him too long to get up to speed.

I heard or read a report that he was ready to go for the final preseason game. I think they just kept him on the PUP list because they knew he wouldn't make it to the PS.

Harris isn't promising anything. He keeps saying "I have to trust the process" whatever the heck that means.

I have not heard anything about Bigby. Harris wouldn't say anything about him or Starks.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.

beast (36m) : Martha? 😋
Zero2Cool (4h) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (6h) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (8h) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
