Honestly, Minnesota should beat the Packers. There better. But talent doesn't mean everything. The 2007 Patriots were the most talented team of the last ten years and they didn't win the Super Bowl.
It's all on Brett Favre now. He needs to be even average because Randy Moss can take an average QB and make him look good. However, Favre has been below average this season. If he plays like he has, then Minnesota is still in a pickle.
Minnesota has very few weaknesses and I don't think WR was the most dire concern on this team.
- Coaching is a weakness. Brad Childress wants to run the ball 25-30 times a game and throw 20-25 times a game. That won't fly with Favre or Moss.
- Offensive Line is overrated. It was last year. It looked good because Favre made them look good, but Adrian Peterson struggled and when that happens, you know something is wrong. Fumbles aside, I didn't think there was anything wrong with AP last season.
- The back end of the secondary is also a problem. However, Minnesota is so good at getting pressure, that QBs don't have enough time to exploit it. Nonetheless, the Vikings would struggle against Jermichael Finley for example.
IF you add QB to the list above, then even with Moss, Minnesota is not a better team than last season. I think that's important to factor in.
So that means it's all on Favre IMO. He hasn't had back-to-back quality seasons since 2003-04. He needs to put together a good season this year and Minnesota will be unstoppable IMO. You can't matchup to them.
No doubt this helps, but they still have to play the games.
