...We will not be a SuperBowl Caliber team. IMHO no team has ever won the Super Bowl without a well balanced running/passing game and right now we have no running game, nor will Mike McCarthy alllow one to develop. I am not sure what it is with this guy, but every season it's the same M.O.
with him.

I'm hoping this might convince Ted Thompson that something NEEDS to be done. Go get someone, please.

You're so wrong that it's not even worth debunking you.

I'll let Zombieslayer do that, if he even wants to waste time on this topic again.

Thirty years ago this might of been the case, but the passing game and defense is where championships are now made. The Colts had the worse running game in football last season and made the Super Bowl.

The Steelers and Cardinals running games ranked 23rd and yes 32nd respectively when they played for the Super Bowl.

Running game just needs to be below average if that at all. Furthermore, it's more about attempts than it is production. If you show a willingness to run the ball, defenses will bite on play fakes.

The last few superbowl champs had merely adequate running games. It's a pathetically pass oriented league. Funny quote by Packer Update:

http://twitter.com/packer_update/status/25746071926
Tough to win games when you have about as many penalties as rushing yards.
“Winning is not a sometime thing, it is an all the time thing. You don't do things right once in a while…you do them right all the time.”

Running Game = Time Management

By that logic, our running game was superb because we had almost 36 minutes of possession compared to about 24 minutes for the Bears.

Actually if you look at the last few SB winners they havent had a star runner. Plenty of numbers have been crunched by Packer beat reporters this week on this subject. All you need is mediocre production on the ground and you can win the SB. It's a passing league right now.

And the Bears have the #1 run D so today was a tough matchup.

Yes, you don't NEED a running game to be successful. But your just a much better offense when you have someone that can run the ball and you can mix up. Right now the Packers run game is so pathetic that handing it off is just a waste of a down because you know it's going to be a 1 yard gain. At least when Grant was back there there was always a chance. Now yes, with anybody back there there is a chance, but so far Jackson/Kuhn have proven to just be completely ineffective. If the running game doesn't take off against the Lions, some adjustments HAVE to be made.
