They were both terrible, especially Tauscher, and it wasn't just against Peppers. I'm really beginning to wonder if we need to get Bulaga and Lang in there.

I don't recall any penalty (or any whiffs showed on TV in replay) where another player besides Peppers was causing them problems.

There was at least one play where Tauscher whiffed on the guy with the funny name that I think starts with an O. But maybe that was the only non-Peppers-related penalty on them.

If you're meaning Ogunleye, he doesn't even play for them anymore.

Adams, Toeaina, Peppers, Idonije, Melton, Harrison, Anderson... which one was it?

And I don't think it necessarily was Peppers causing them problems. They just suck.

I hate to say this, but at this point I am feeling abundantly vindicated in my anger over the extensions handed out to Clifton and Tauscher -- and even the fact they made it onto the roster this year.

Yeah, yeah, you'll all ask, "But who else should we have put in their place?" Anyone with a lower probability of going down by midseason with some sort of injury. It's only Game 3 and Clifton can't get through the entire game without being swapped out at least once.

This.

While I think the terrible play tonight of Taush and Cliffy had a lot to do with Peppers, I do not want to imply that their play has been solid or even passable.

It has been bad, and tonight got a whole lot worse against an elite rusher.

I'd love to know the thought process on bringing them back outside of "______ has been solid for us the past few years.".

Yeah, I know they don't have Ogunleye anymore. It must've been Idonije. I'd have to watch the game again to be sure, and I don't know if I want to watch this train wreck again.

Surprised Bulaga wasn't in there for Clifton near the end. Tauscher to me seemed like the biggest problem tonight though, just an ugly performance.

I don't think the penalties were all due to Peppers' intimidation factor. The crowd noise played a role too.

It's an outdoor stadium. Crowd noise shouldn't be that big a factor. Besides, these guys have played over a decade in the league. They should know the snap counts sufficiently by now not to be making stupid false starts in crucial situations. Like on the goal line.

Three times in a row. Although there's obviously a lot more noise in your own endzone, zero excuse for more than one false start there, much less 3.

Just sayin'

I thought it was a playoff like atmosphere in Chicago. That crowd was ready.
