It is amazing that a kid who started so few in college was a 1st round pick and has done so well since forcing his way into the starting lineup last year.

It has been said by others- I was shocked to see his arms. Until he got into his post sack strutting, I just never noticed.

I think i'd actually prefer to see another guy like Jones, and Jenkins go on a 2 or 3 game sack streak. That way they can't just game plan big time against CM3. Although a sack watch for the season record would be a sick feat for only a 2nd year player.

Believe it! If they start to key on CM3, watch Jones pick up the slack like he did at the end of the year last year. The more potency we have there, the more options we have.

What I love about this team is the tremendous amount of weapons on both sides of the ball. It isn't a one-trick pony. I pity the poor opposing coaches who have to game plan against us. They can't just focus on the one "star talent" because we have so many. Try to double up on Driver or Jennings and it just means Finley has a big day. CM3 is such a force multiplier because the more they focus on him (much like the focus on Woody last year) the more it opens up the door for other players. If they have big days, it forces the next team to respect that threat. Sooner or later, it leaves someone with an off-balanced matchup and another Packer win!

I don't. I'd love to see Lovie Smith just lose it and just start crying. That would rule.

As for everything else you said, those are some of the main reasons we'll win the SB this year. :thumbright:

"Sometimes when you get sacks, the stars have to align,'' Matthews said. "There's no reason to think I can't keep it up, but if I end up this year with six sacks, you won't see a different approach. I'll still be the same player, playing the same way.''

I absolutely love this quote from Matthews at the end of the article. Every player knows what to say in regard to the typical "hey I might end up with only six sacks..." The part I like is about the fact that he won't have a different approach, THAT is what I want to hear from a player. The fact that he will keep his approach the same (NOT necessarily his technique) is reassuring, it shows confidence that you want and need in a big play defensive player.

I KNOW it early but, can we have ANOTHER defensive player of the year candidate already??

Can Matthews Beat Double teams?

"Finley88Beast" wrote:

Three things:

1. How does a guy who is moves all over the field and doesn't rush the QB every play get double teamed?

2. So far it looks like Raji and Pickett are taking up all the double teams on the field.

3. You don't have to beat double teams you just have to run by them.

The only way an offense can prevent Clay Matthews from sacking the QB is to get the ball out of the QB's hands before he can reach him.
