whats better than sitting on a bench for $10 million? playing for $5 million would be pointless compared to the other choice, what if you are one of the quarterbacks that either A. sucks the big one (such as the raiders team), B. that is a one year wonder, and is benched for the rest of your career, or C. that gets a career ending injury and only amounts to $5 million bucks, compared to $10 million for a career that has a very much higher chance to last longer
i gotta go for the money on this one

After seeing Theisman's injury over and over again, and seeing one of my favorite players of all-time get injured on several occasions (Lynn Dickey), I'd be more than content to ride the pine. Plus, I've always argued Steve Young is one of the best 3 QBs I've ever seen. It just took one hit and his career was over.
Troy Aikman is overrated and doesn't deserve to be in the Hall (right place at the right time, kind of like Ben R), but he's a pretty good QB and he'll be like Mohammed Ali in a decade or two.
C happens more often than we like to admit. Starters who leave the NFL uninjured are actually minorities. I don't remember the link but I heard it's around 25%.
That said, I have utmost respect for glory hounds. I'm not just one of them.
