To be completely honest I don't like Crabtree he only looks decent on ST.I watched him closely during the film in the eagles and the bills game.I didnt see anything special. He is a ok blocker but looks like he has no strength in the passing game.I would love to see Quarless activated sometime this year he is a better receiver than crabtree and it seems to me crabtree gets motioned a lot and goes out as a receiver and never gets open.
Thoughts? You guys think quarless should get time to play more so than crabtree?

i wouldn't mind if he got more playing time. i still think he's pretty rough though. i'd say give him some spot time and by next year he should be ready for an expanded role. i've heard a lot of comparisons to finley in reference to quarless. could you imagine if we had two TE's with that ability?!

Quarless is probably a bit raw.

And we have the perfect TE trio active for gameday. Finley is a recieving TE, Lee is balanced, and Crabtree is a blocker. I'd rather have a recieving and blocking TE on the field, than two recieving TEs. Especially with how bad our OL is.

I just watched the bills game and I noticed that too; seeing crabtree out there a fair amount of plays - was wondering why. I think that perhaps Mike McCarthy is trying out some 2 TE formations.

And ya maybe crabtree is the better blocker. I still think we could get rid of 1-2 TEs and be fine. Heck even 1 FB.

Here we complain about the lack of the running game, and now we want to take the best blocking TE off the field.

Then take a look at his contributions on special teams.. I believe he is in all packages.. maybe not but it seems like it.

So, they are activating Finley, Lee and Crabtree at this point.. I think when Quarless is ready, he will bump Lee off the active list in place of Crabtree..

Additionally, I don't think Crabtree is a [strike]back[/strike] bad option on offense as a receiver, sure he might not be as dynamic as Fin or Quarless.. but I don't think he is a negative either.

Finley was raw as hell his first year and he was a 3rd round pick. Quarless, in a similar mould, will take some time to sharpen up.

And as has been said, we don't need him right now. We have four quality WRs, an elite pass catching TE in Finley and an adequate one in Lee.

Crabtree's blocking will probably be needed even more on Monday to provide some extra help dealing with Peppers.

I hadn't noticed Crabtree running any routes. You must watch these games closely, Finley. With the special teams playing so well, I hate to change the lineups. Maybe Quarless will have to prove himself on special teams in practice before he can start making the gameday roster.

As pack93z says, maybe Quarless will bump Lee rather than Crabtree off the active list, although barring injury, that probably won't happen till the 2011 off season, when I suspect Lee will gone completely.

Crabtree plays on 5 of the STs. If you want to replace him with an extra receiver that we don't really need all that much at the moment (and wont help as much on ST) go ahead but I'll say no thanks.

I agree with most everybody, we have plenty of receiving threats out there, don't need another one. Keep Crabtree for his blocking but definitely for his special teams.

Keep Crabtree as a blocker, especially this year while we are (or certainly have been) suffering with Jackson at the helm. Quarless does certainly pose a threat as a receiver but lets be honest, are we week on receiving players right now? Nope.

Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you

Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
