I'm on a general NFL board elsewhere and Bills and Eagles fans are currently writing in a thread about how Matthews is possibly the best defensive player in the NFL. Chris Carter compared him to Lawrence Taylor on ESPN's game day recap.

He's played two games, one of which was against probably the worst offensive line in the NFL. Not sold on the fact that he'll break any records just yet. Certainly love the guy though.

I think he'll end up having 12 - 14 sacks this season. This being the NFL and all, teams will figure out how to stop him, especially since we don't have a threat on the other side. Even if that means roll outs opposite his direction.

LOL.. here I thought this might be another non convoluted thread by NonStop.. taking a small sampling of statistics and broadly applying them forward.

Apparently it is spreading.. lol.

Now seriously though.. watching him closely he is using leverage better this season along with much improved hand play in keeping separation. Add that to his drive, you are seeing an athletic improved version of his father... and that is saying a mouthful.

Glad to see him adding to his game and not just worrying about his celebration thereafter.

If he keeps up the impact plays.. he can do that freaking jig for all care.. he at least gets it by providing an impact play before some display... unlike his running mate in 56. Although.. Barnett seems to have matured past that nonsense after a routine play to be fair.

We do, sort off. Cullen Jenkins. He's a Richard Seymour-like guy. Someone who can played DE in both the 4-3 and 3-4 as a superb pass rusher.

I agree, though, that his production will go down. We played the Bills and the Eagles with a 1st year QB.

Like I said in my last post, Mario Williams, Dwight Freeney, James Harrison, Mathias Kiwanuka, Robert Mathis and Juqua Parker are on pace for the single season record, as well. It just means very little right now.

We do, however, play a couple of teams that Clay could get some sacks in. Twice against the Bears, the Lions, the Vikings, once against the Dolphins, Falcons etc. Some of those teams have some good LTs, but have questions at RT.

Clay is a BEAST in SO many ways, and believe me I am not dogging him at all, but Cullen, B.J. and Ryan are doing what they're supposed to be doing as well, and that helps. Just to make my point...Clay is a BEAST!!!

Zero, fire up the jersey buying thread, I think we have some takers on a #52!

6 sacks in two games projects out to 48 on the season. The all time record is 22.5, and it took Favre to lay down for Strahan to get that.
I don't think Clay is gonna maintain this pace, but he's definitely got a shot at the record. Damn he's good.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. He's played well against the run. Are you joking?

Oh, that explains it. I thought he might be a fan of another team, then I saw that he had 22 applaud points and thought nah, he must be a Packer fan. He probably could've picked someone better to try picking on than our one player who has been virtually perfect so far this season. A dropped interception is the only mistake I can think of by Matthews so far.
