1: Leaves too many yards on the field.

2: Doesn't cut as well as Jackson. Seems like he has to stop to change direction.

3: Lacks vision. Doesn't see holes.

4: Adequate, but not great speed.

5: Doesn't show up until week 10.

6: Can't catch.

Other than all that, he's great.

Green for the most part did get his fumbling under control. I mean to the point where he was effective and was not losing games for the Packers. Or puting them in extremely bad situations. Early on i could not stand Green! But I came around on him eventually.

Yep I agree with you 100%. He did get a lot better. Who knows if it was changing his arm pads or what haha. I probably don't belong in this thread, because as the author stated, this is for non-Grant fans only and I am obviously not in that category, I just wanted to see what this was about. Green did do great things for the Packers, but I just believe that Ryan Grant doesn't get the attention he deserves. But then again, in that perspective we get to see Grant not being a primadonna (sp?) about the whole situation, which makes me very happy to have him on the team.

Oh no doubt. Weather you like his play on the field or not, Ryan Grant is a class guy!

I think Grant is a nice, solid RB. He doesn't get the attention from Packer fans because, harsh as it sounds, he doesn't deserve it IMO.

Honestly ask yourself what does Ryan Grant do better than any other RB in the NFL? The answer is nothing. He is not especially fast, he isn't a great receiving threat/screen threat, he's not fantastic at blitz pickup(B-jax is though), and he doesn't make many people miss.

I know you can point to the yards and say, "Well c'mon Ryan Grant has put up more rushing yards then most backs in the NFL". Fine, but you must take into account the fact that the Packers NEVER split Grant's carries EVER. He gets beyond the majority of the carries. Furthermore, the Packers have one of the best passing attacks in the league since Grant has been here. Our running game is created off the pass not vice versa.

Grant doesn't carry the offense at all. He is a serviceable RB who is solid, but he is nothing special IMHO. He'll take exactly what the line gives him, nothing more, nothing less. He isn't anywhere near the level of a Chris Johnson, but he is a solid back.

So your saying he got all those yrds because he had a lot of carries..I have to laugh at that.He is a good back not great but good I hardly think you should say he got those yrds because he ran a lot well lets see I never see AP Split that many carries either or chris johnson. He is a hard runner he can break tackles he never fumbles he is consitant every year I like grant and hate to see him go.Jackson is not better than grant but he can do some things MM likes and we'll be fine.

Ryan Grant is a pillar of balance that fits the Packers perfectly at this moment in time, keeping in mind the current key personnel on the roster.

Would I rather have Chris Johnson or Adrian Peterson? NO.

1) Financial implications of another top tier skill player - furthers the cap hit by a couple of million, must be taken into consideration, especially when other talents need paying too.

2) Upsetting the apple cart - A top tier running back would probably want to be very active. With Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, Jermichael Finley and Jones/Nelson - more emphasis on the running game means less balls to our recievers, which in turn will lead to discontent. I would expect Finley to be vocal about it, and Jennings to suffer it but still feel dissapointed - same with Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers loves to spread to love - kind of hard to do when you have a potential 2000 yard back waiting in the wings.

If we didn't have such a potentially devastating passing attack, i'd take alot of backs over Grant.

At this moment in time, he get's my thumbs up because he compliments what the teams modus operandi on offense is.

I feel the most underrated aspect of Grant's game is strangely that which he is given compliments for; his consistency.

+1 to Vince for both reasons. Agreed on both counts. I don't want to see a "star RB" take plays away from our passing game.

I always had two major problems with Ryan Grant.

1. I loved (contradictory) that he was a north/south back BUT there were time where he could have broke east/west for some extra yards. I am all about a guy putting his shoulders down and lowering the boom. If you are going to do that, maybe break a tackle or two.

2. Pass protection is a big deal to me, especially since our star is sitting at QB. Ryan Grant has to have the worst blitz pick-up ever. He doesn't pass protect at all.

I don't dislike Ryan Grant, but I also don't like when people put him on a pedestal. In today's game there is more to the running back position than just running the ball (which is the only + I can see people making for him).

And just to add for conversation, I am extremely confident that Brandon Jackson will have the same kind of production, if not better than Grant AND he will pass protect for Rodgers.
