We lose #1 RB and #4 DE for the season in game 1.

Expect our Superbowl odds to be slashed now.

I like you... B Jack ran great against the Eagles, if he continues to run like he did there, with that kind of conviction and power he will go for over 1,000 yards, his ability to change directions will be very good for the run game, book it!

Prediction: by the end of the year, John Kuhn is our starting HB.

Second prediction: and we won't be bummed about it.

"Wade" wrote:

Although, there might need to be two conditions:

1) Clifton is not our starting LT (replaced by Bulaga)
2) Tausher is not our starting RT (replaced by Lang or *shudder* Breno)

Wells was outstanding in run blocking against the Eagles, and McGinn made a great point that his superb performance allowed Colledge to be free to get the second level and block LBs. Sitton is also a very solid, but in run and pass pro.

But Clifton and Taush don't offer much in terms of run blocking, as both are old and too big for routinely throwing themselves in the hopes of cutting D-linemen. If those two end up getting replace, I do not doubt our ability to create running lanes would increase.

Or a second option is forcing teams to play our passing attack first. It's obvious that we'll emphasize the pass even more the next little while with only 2 healthy RBs, and if Clifton and Taush hold up better than they did in week 1, we could gain an advantage by teams deciding to not load the box and thus giving our RBs some more space to operate.

Not the best time to lose a solid starting RB, but to be honest solid RBs are about a dime a dozen. We most certainly can overcome this.

1996, Week 7 I believe, against the 49ers, the Packers were riding high with Super Bowl aspirations, then Robert Brooks fell for the year with an ACL.

We still held up our end and won out.

I think Willie Parker is finished. Shaun Alexander has been finished. Brandon Jackson will serve as equally as good as Grant did. We need a new 3rd down back now. That's what we shop for.

i really, truly believe Jackson can and will pick up the load. if he stays healthy. i think Grant was a smarter athlete but i like Jackson's instincts more.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

I'll agree with you there. Also, I found myself thinking that Grant would have been tackled already during a couple of B Jackson's runs Sunday.

Lets hope BJack become Chris Johnson overnite.

"gopackers08" wrote:

This is an unfair expectation.

B-Jack will never, ever be Chris Johnson. The latter is a huge playmaker on his team, and the offense stems from Johnson's ability to run up and down the field.

B-Jack has nowhere near the speed, quickness, and change of direction ability of Chris Johnson. He is not a strong enough RB to have the offense run through him.

B-Jack is not (nor ever will be) Chris Johnson. We've done fine with him not being Johnson thus far (even came close to advancing in the playoffs), and there is no need for B-Jack to become Johnson overnight.

We'll be fine with B-Jack being the B-Jack who showed up against the Eagles (moved the chains, credited with breaking seven tackles, was a threat to also catch passes out of the backfield). That B-Jack was certainly not Chris Johnson or anywhere near his level, and we survived.

That is the caveat.. can he stay healthy carrying the full load.. another player that seems to be constantly nicked.

I personally don't see him as a better player than Grant, but I don't think the drop off is dramatic either. Durability is the chief concern.

Kuhn I think can be effective for some of that load.. but I would pick up another back, a third down scat back or a slight change of pace back.

I don't see us needing an aging back for reps.. but someone that may play into the future at this point.

Later in the season, I can see adding a Green type veteran to plug in immediately to go.. but at the moment we can pick up a young bull and allow him to grow into the offense for a couple of weeks.. sans a training camp period to pick up the playbook.

Two roster spots have opened up on the 53-man roster. I'm looking forward to seeing who fills them.

This.

Jackson should get some easy yards as teams gear up to stop Aaron Rodgers as our #8 fantasy RB is out for the season.

Kuhn will pick up some of the load, but Jackson will get more of the reps. Power ruled in the 1970s, but speed rules today. Kuhn is more power, Jackson is more speed/moves.
