Goddammit.

Well... as much as I hate to say it... we could probably get Haynesworth... He's said he wouldn't mind playing on a 3-4 team if he could play DE...

That's the defense we played in a lot last year as well. Which is why I said having only 4 DL is not that big of a deal, however, counting on Harrell as one of those 4 DL is a concern. Something I addressed in another thread that many jumped my case for. Their remedy (which I agreed) was Neal was top backup, but he was out too. So, that put us right back to where I had a concern, that others claimed, wasn't an issue.

I'm hoping Neal can come back quickly, or that Harrell's injury isn't as bad as thought to be. It'd be nice to have them both healthy and tearing up offenses!

^ I think us playing it was more dictated by the fact that we had to stop Vick in the 2nd half. Much rather have Chillar / Bush in place of the 3rd D-linemen, Ryan Pickett.

I'm pretty sure that playing the 2 man front all game had to do with only having 3 lineman for the whole game. You can't have all 3 out there at the same time with all of the snaps they were logging. Those guys were completely gassed towards the end of the game.

What is the benefit of cutting Harrell?

Fans are just fed up with him and want him gone. But as his salary is fully guranteed for this year it seems to make sense to put him on IR and bring him back next summer and see how he gets on.

If it was his back again that would be worse.

The Packers have nothing to lose putting him on IR.

I'm not dead set against Harrell coming back. I've mostly defended him on this board. I just don't think it's likely that he can come back. I think it will be hard for him to recover from this ACL tear, considering how big he is and how slowly he has recovered from his other injuries. He will miss the minicamps and may not be ready for training camp, especially considering how hard it will be for him to stay in any kind of shape.

Also, it was becoming clear that he was only a solid backup, even when healthy. It's hard to see him as a potential force as a starting DL.
