Can we just fair catch it every time.

Last years leading yards per punt return only averaged 15.2 yards. Maybe we can just throw a jump ball to Finley on first down and make up for the fair catching 😛

I remember a starting CB return punts and kicks pretty good for many years. His name was Prime Time, I think you want someone to put fear in the opposing team like Hester did.

Exactly. Can't spend all your time worrying about injuries. You've got to put your best option out there.

If Woodson or Williams were anywhere near as good as Deion at returning punts, I would say go for it. But Woodson is pretty average at it. Williams is better, though, and may be worth considering.

I remember during the '97 season, after Desmond Howard left, Holmgren used Brooks and Freeman as returners during the playoffs. But I think he used unknown players during the regular season.

He has in a preseason before... he had some real troubles figuring out where it was going until it was too late and had to rush over to it... kinda like Shields but he looked more sure handed but still had fumble troubles and watching the ball and the gunners coming at him at the same time...

Yes, he has. Five times for 29 yards with a long of 10 in the pro's and I think he did it in college too.

Holy smokes. +1 to Hazer. I had no idea how good he was.

Deion was possibly the best coverage CB I've ever seen so yes, he was super valuable as a CB.

FYI - he led the NFL in PR TDs 3 times, PR Average once, KR TDs twice, and KR Yards once.

Yes, let's give our opponents one more thing to worry about. I'd like to see us more aggressive. If we can get TDs in STs, that would make a major difference. We haven't been getting them recently.

Per Vikings.com MN has a starting WR returning kicks and a starting CB returning punts. It's not unusual.

Neon Deion was a freak of nature. Playing defense, offense and playing an entirely seperate sport at a pro level as well. In my mind, Prime Time is in the books as one of the best athletes of all time across any sports imho. If he was worth risking to win football games, then we should be willing to do the same. The lifespan of a pro athlete is so short, use them while we can.

It's not a verified account but it still may be real. I don't see any point in not trying him out though.

When I seen he was cut, I was looking for us to make a play for him.

But, it makes too much sense in my pea-sized brain, so I'm sure it's a fake account.

I mean, a returner with some talent AND adds a RB to our active roster? No, not happening.

Edit, Interesting??

On September 5, 2010, after claiming running back Kregg Lumpkin off waivers from Green Bay, the Bucs released Smith.

Fucking Ted sitting on his fucking hands! Why didn't he just work out a trade? Why didn't he KNOW that the Bucs would release Smith! Fucking hand warming slacker! HE must be spending too much time with his wife, er kids, or .. wait ...

dfosterf (2-Jan) : Hats off to the Beast
dfosterf (2-Jan) : I'm at 71.76% in pick 'em. 2nd place. Beast is at a flat 75% 9 games ahead. That 75% has got to be unprecedented this late in the season
beast (2-Jan) : I don't care deeply, just want some good entertaining games
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : BTW, not serious.
Zero2Cool (2-Jan) : You don't care about it either!!!!

Mucky Tundra (2-Jan) : outside of Texas-Arizona St, it's been a snoozefest
beast (2-Jan) : I expect Georgia will change that tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see. If they do, then only Big 10 and SEC are left.
