As expected, the eighth member of the Packers practice squad is a running back.
Its James Johnson, a 5-foot-11, 207-pound first-year player out of Kansas State. But Johnson has been around hte NFL for a couple of years. He was an undrafted free agent signed by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2008. He played in four games for the Bengals in 2008 before he was released and then spent time on their practice squad in 2008 and 2009. He was back with the Bengals again this preseason. He will wear No. 39.
The last spot was surely going to go to a running back after GM Ted Thompson kept only two halfbacks Ryan Grant and Brandon Jackson on the roster.
Johnson is the only member of the eight-man squad that wasnt with the Packers in camp. The others are: T Chris Campbell, LB Robert Francois, T Breno Giacomini, QB Graham Harrell, S Anthony Levine, LB Maurice Simpkins and WR Chastin West.
