I don't see what the big deal is. There are plenty of rich liberals banking what they believe in.
It goes both ways.

Of course it goes both ways. I certainly realize that. However, many people don't seem to realize this fact. It's just the typical circle of one side blasting the other side when they do the EXACT same things themselves.

Soooo lame, predictable, and corrupt . . . . all the way around. It's those that act like it's not like this that bother me.

EDIT: Also, David and Charles Koch are just not "more rich people bankrolling."

David Koch and his brother Charles own Koch industries, a largely oil-based conglomerate headquartered in Wichita, Kansas which generated roughly 100 billion dollars in revenue in 2008. Together the brothers are worth 35 billion dollars, only trailing Bill Gates and Warren Buffet in wealth among Americans

I'm not saying I can blame him, but it's important to realize and understand that these are some of the most powerful people in the world. Their political agenda is nothing new and radical, just the same ole same ole patting of the oil industries back. Go figure.

Democrats use the poor to get elected. Republicans use the lower middle class to get elected. It really is as simple as that. The tea party is trying to convince the lower middle class that the poor are their enemy and freeloading off them.

Wake up America, they are both in bed with the same PAC's in Washington. The middle class and poor are not being represented in Washington. Both sides use rhetoric, but have a private agenda. I've tuned out because I can't stand being lied to anymore.

Agreed, Dakota. I vote, but beyond that have removed myself from much of politics....and am much the happier for it.

Republicans and Democrats = Coke and Pepsi. Same shit, but too much of either will make you sick as hell. I wish a meteor would strike Washington and rid us of the blight that is the "enlightened, elite political class".

That is how I have felt for some time.. party doesn't matter, but even then in the last election it mattered not. Same shit.. different term.

And the problem is larger than just the guy sitting on the theoritical throne.. it is time for an overhaul of the system.. that includes this bullshit two party system that creates more waste than good..

Anyone got a meteor dance with some aiming instructions included?

1. Lots of people vote Republican a lot based on a "lesser of two evils" theory.
2. Lots of other people vote Republican a lot because they don't think there is another alternative to voting for one of the two major parties ...and therefore, see #1.

3. Re: Tea parties -- a lot of people follow the Tea Party, even though they know its been significantly co-opted by the Republican because they think that it makes the Republicans slightly more likely to be something other than just "non-Democrats." The Republicans' lip service to the ideals of the tea party being slightly more credible because of #1 and #2.

4. Whatever the Republicans are doing vis-a-vis tea-partying, the *ideals* upon which Tea Partying movement is based are worthwhile. And in need of serious advocacy in this country.

My personal belief is that both major parties are beyond saving.

But I wear and display the Gadsden flag (on a pole at home on holidays, on my lapel when I wear a coat and tie, and on my desk at the office all the time). I expect many of my colleagues and neighbors think of me as "another Tea Party nut."

But I don't give a shit. Because the ideals of that flag are too important. If the ideals of the Tea Party are no longer acceptible in this country just because the occasional rich person or nut professes them, then this country isn't on life support anymore.

It's already dead.

Don't tread on me!
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

My problem with the Tea Party, Wade, is that there montra is "we want our country back" but they forget to add "like it was in the 1950's." Well the 1950's were pretty horrible for many people in this country. A pretty good era for the white male and their content wives, but not so good for any minority trying for equality.

That flag stands for a lot good things, just so long as we all agree there has been many atrocities in 250 years under that flag as well.

This country is the great experiment of the world. Can every walk of life live under the same flag, same laws, and have the same opportunities and freedoms. I'm not so sure the "Tea Party" philosophy has everyone's interest at heart, and I'm quite certain they have a certain type of person in mind that they care about.

Well, first, I have to ask "what does the tea party believe in?"

They have a 10 point plan here:
1 - Identify Constitutionality of every new law. I like that and totally support that.
2 - Reject Emissions trading. Don't know enough about it to have an informed opinion.
3 - Demand a federal balanced budget. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Bill Clinton trying to do this?
4 - Simplify the tax system. Why do I have to buy $100 software in order to do taxes (no, in my case, the cheap versions don't work)? It's too complex as is.
5 - Audit federal government agencies for constitutionality. Cool.
6 - Limit annual growth of federal spending. Honestly, your kids deserve to put you in the worst possible nursing home for what you left them and it's partly because of our spending problems.
7 - Repeal the health care legislation. I still don't have an informed enough opinion on this to not sound stupid if I took a side.
8 - Pass an "all-of-the-above" energy policy to limit our dependence on foreign oil. Been saying this for years.
9 - Reduce "earmarks." Cool.
10 - Reduce taxes. Very cool. I pay too much in tax. So do you.

So if I thought the Tea Party movement was those 10 things, I'd probably support it.

Then I see this:
73% of Tea Party people disprove Obama's relations with Muslim countries. Hmm...I thought we were actually getting some progress with Obama in this area.

88% approve Arizona's immigration law. Well, I don't know enough about it but I do know illegal immigration is a serious problem that needs to be addressed and we need to send illegals home, so this is probably a thumbs up from me.

82% are against gays and lesbians from marrying. WTF? Seriously, gays and lesbians marrying has NO effect whatsoever on you. Why should that be a concern?

52% of gays and lesbians have too much political power. Too much? Should you blame them for voting? Actually, if you want to blame anyone, blame people who are cynical, who stay home on election day, and who bitch without doing anything. If anything, gays and lesbians should be congratulated for being politically active.

74% think it shouldn't be the government's job to guarantee racial equality. Well, sort of. If the color of my skin means someone will physically stop me from voting, then yes, I want some protection when going to the voting booth as I may be armed, but I'm not bulletproof.

I don't however believe in Affirmative Action as I believe we should be color-blind, period.

Now when I saw that Sarah Palin pretty much hijacked the movement, I lost interest.

everytime a '3rd party' starts gaining momentum, making sense in most areas, & have an ideal that i could easily wrap my arms around, some freak show idiot(s) end(s) up being their voice. yes i'm talking about beck & palin. how can you 'believe' in a movement whose voice actually believes our own gov't sent the planes into the WTC and every other coo coo conspiracy theory? that's what pisses me off.
