Gilbert, who's kicking, punting and doing long snapping?

Zero, pretty shocked to see you have Francois over Bishop at ILB, any specific reasoning for that?

I don't think Bishop makes it to our 53.

I agree. Francois is much better in terms of 53 player making.

Seriously though, I too would like to hear your reasoning for this.

(I tried to sound like that annoying SS Major from Inglorious Basterds in that last sentence).

Keep in mind, I don't watch Linerbackers often. From what I've seen, read and heard about Bishop is he's a special teams ace and once on the field makes a lot of mental errors. I don't think he can cover any better than Hawk. And now he's got a hamstring issue. He's had several years to crack the starting lineup and hasn't. I don't see him making it on the roster. He'll either be cut, or traded I think.

I always enjoy predicting this. Here goes:

Offense (25):

QB (2): Aaron Rodgers, Matt Flynn
RB (3): Ryan Grant, Brandon Jackson, Quinn Porter
FB (2): John Kuhn, Korey Hall
WR (5): Greg Jennnings, Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson, James Jones, Brett Swain
TE (4): Jermichael Finley, Donald Lee, Andrew Quarless, Spencer Havner
OL (9): Chad Clifton, Daryn Colledge, Scott Wells, Josh Sitton, Mark Tauscher, Bryan Bulaga, T.J. Lang, Jason Spitz, Marshall Newhouse

Defense (25):

DL (6): Cullen Jenkins, B.J. Raji, Ryan Pickett, Mike Neal, Justin Harrell, Jarius Wynn
OLB (4): Clay Matthews, Brad Jones, Brady Poppinga, Frank Zombo
ILB (4): Nick Barnett, A.J. Hawk, Brandon Chillar, Desmond Bishop
CB (7): Charles Woodson, Al Harris, Tramon Williams, Al Harris, Pat Lee, Brandon Underwood, Sam Shields
S (4): Nick Collins, Morgan Burnett, Will Blackmon, Derrick Martin

Special Teams (3):

LS: Brett Goode
K: Mason Crosby
P: Tim Masthay

Notes:

Ive got Al Harris making the roster rather than going on the Physically Unable to Perform list, because he could easily be ready by week two or three, rather than having to wait until week six.

I think Atari Bigby and James Starks will end up on the PUP list (Starks might even be placed on Injured Reserve sooner rather than later).

Tim Masthay pretty much won the punting competition with his performance against the Colts.

Frank Zombo and Sam Shields make the team after strong pre-seasons. Shields essentially replaces Jarrett Bush on special teams, and is a better prospect at corner.

Tom Crabtree is a hard cut at TE, but I cant justify keeping five, and Quarless has far more upside.

Quinn Porter gains a roster spot almost by default as I cant see the Packers keeping only two RBs. Although this could be a place for a trade/waiver wire acquisition.

The Allen Barbre/Breno Giacomini experiments are over. Both are horrific players and the new guys - Bulaga and Newhouse - essentially replace them from last season. Spitz makes it over Dietrich-Smith, though the former might be traded, in which case the Packers would keep Dietrich-Smith around.

That's a pretty bold statement, but it makes sense. Bishop has not had his usual eye-catching preseason, and he seems disgruntled. He may have some trade value, and if they don't trade him now I think he can leave on his own after this season, and he probably will. Also, Francois and Joseph have gotten some significant playing time recently, so the coaches might think they are good enough to serve as backups.

So far I'm the only one who's picking Jarius Wynn to make the team. He hasn't had a great preseason, but I sure don't see Wilson (or Toribio) beating him out. They haven't done much of anything, even in practice. Plus Wilson is eligible for the practice squad, while Wynn is not.

"Packers_Finland" wrote:

Toribio is a prototypical nose which is hard to find. On the flip side, mediocre at best defenisve ends can be found rather easily.

But they already have Ryan Pickett as a backup NT, and they don't use an NT on passing downs. I don't think they need three of them.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?

dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what

Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : Did they know that at the time or was that something the realized afterwards?
Zero2Cool (9-Apr) : Van Ness played most of season with broken thumb
