It bugs me that Peyton Manning two years in a row had statistically inferior seasons to Aaron and Aaron didn't get the recognition. I'd love for Aaron to get his first (of several hopefully) MVPs.

Rodgers

2008 341 536 63.6 4038 28 5.2 13 2.4 71 7.5
2009 350 541 64.7 4434 30 5.5 7 1.3 83 8.2

Let's not forget he also ran in 9 TDs in the past 2 years.

Manning

2008 371 555 66.8 4002 27 4.9 12 2.2 75 7.2
2009 393 571 68.8 4500 33 5.8 16 2.8 80 7.9

Whereas besides Michael Vick, well, let's just say with REAL QBs, Aaron Rodgers is the best scrambler in the NFL, Manning had 1 whopping TD rushing in the past two seasons plus ran for -13 yards in 2009.

Yes, I know football does it differently than baseball. As much as I don't like baseball, they get their MVP thingie right. It should be the best player in the league.

As for our D, not too worried yet. Once everyone comes back from injury, you'll see a completely different D.

As for our STs, they worry me.

The difference is that in baseball, stats tell you most of the story. In football, there are more things that don't show up in the stat sheet. Manning calls his own plays and he successfully managed an offense that had to break in two unknown young receivers at the same time. There are a lot of intangibles with him. He's earned his respect, and I think Rodgers will get there someday too, maybe even this year.

foxsports link And Rodgers said he spent the offseason pouring over film with Mike McCarthy

Q: What exactly did they pour over the film?

On the flip side, the Colts as long as they've had Manning have made OL a priority. We've done a crappy job with our OL for Aaron's career so far. Best OL we've had was with Sherman.

(Of course not implying Sherman was better than we have now, just saying the OL was better).

Aaron took a lot of brutal hits last year. Heck, look at that very last hit he took in the Playoffs. Yet he still performed admirably.

Green and gold lenses aside, if we had the choice to trade Aaron for Peyton, money not an issue, I'd take Aaron. More mobility. With be around longer.

If you have a coach who calls pretty good plays, the QB doesn't need to call them. I'm fine with MM calling the plays in GB but wish we'd be even more aggressive.

Peyton calls pretty good plays in Indy. I'll give him that. In Minnesota, I really think Favre should be calling the plays. Apples and oranges though. We're in a time when coaches, not quarterbacks, call the plays. Back in the days, Bart Starr and Terry Bradshaw were probably the majority. QB used to have the highest IQ on the field. Nowadays, it's the OT.

Sure, Al Harris is hurt. So is Atari Bigby. Pro Bowler Aaron Kampman is no longer in Green Bay, though he clearly wasnt a fit in Capers system. Johnny Jolly is suspended for the year. But this team now fully comprehends what the coordinator wants.

There are a few excellant ST coaches, a number of good ones and mostly average ones. There are few bad ones - how does GB keep finding them?
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?
Fan Shout
Martha Careful (1h) : Saints are re-signing DE Chase Young to a three-year, $51 million deal worth up to $57 million.
Martha Careful (2h) : 49ers releasing FB Juszcyk any interest?
Zero2Cool (2h) : digits of four
Zero2Cool (2h) : four digits
Zero2Cool (3h) : Eh, don't think so. better to split
Zero2Cool (3h) : on new site, would Fan Shout and GameDay Chat show same messages?
Mucky Tundra (3h) : The Hall of Fame stuff probably came from a scout as Zero said; at this point though it's hard to see them moving ZT from RT
Mucky Tundra (3h) : Regarding ZT at C, Gute had said he felt C was ZTs best position after he was drafted.
Zero2Cool (4h) : LB Oren Burks to sign a 2-year, $5M deal with the Bengals.
Zero2Cool (4h) : Based on how it was worded at the time, probably scout.
beast (4h) : I don't think the media person ever told the public the source, but Gute or LaFleur did say they thought Tom has earned his spot at OT
beast (4h) : I think it was supposedly unnamed Packers source
buckeyepackfan (5h) : Was that Gute or Lefleur or someone else?
buckeyepackfan (5h) : Zach Tom could be a really good guard, an all pro tackle, but probably be a HOF Center. Who said that?
Zero2Cool (5h) : It's March 10th. I don't think anything is done.
Martha Careful (5h) : if we think CB is done, we have a poor roster
Mucky Tundra (5h) : CB and OG in FA, narrows down the top of the draft board a little
Martha Careful (6h) : Meh....I hope we can get Ward 49ers or Murphy Vikings
Zero2Cool (6h) : Yes
Martha Careful (6h) : did Nate Hobbs just sign with us CB Raiders?
Zero2Cool (6h) : Jets have agreed to terms with former Ravens CB Brandon Stephens

Zero2Cool (6h) : Muwahaha
Zero2Cool (6h) : Oh awesome! Nostrawrongus says 4th so SUPER BOWL ON TRACK!!

Mucky Tundra (7h) : Slaton to the Begals=Guaranteed Big Boy in the first 3 rounds

Zero2Cool (7h) : oops
Zero2Cool (7h) : Josh Sweat to Cardinals
Martha Careful (7h) : Josh Sweat to the Arizona Cardinals.
Mucky Tundra (7h) : Surprises the Seahawks signed Darnold for that money
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Depends on what Kupp is igned for.
Martha Careful (8h) : The Bears are adding to their defensive line. Chicago is signing former Colts pass-rusher Dayo Odeyingbo to a three-year, $48 million deal
Zero2Cool (8h) : Free agent DT Poona Ford to the #Rams on a 3-year, $30M
dfosterf (8h) : Imo cooper kupp is pretty much stupid money spending
Zero2Cool (8h) : Dayo Odeyingbo to the Bears
Zero2Cool (8h) : oops
Zero2Cool (8h) : CB Darius Slay to sign with the Steelers
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Justin Fields to The Jets!
Martha Careful (8h) : Justin Field to the Jets
buckeyepackfan (8h) : Cooper Kupp! After all the stupid money is spent.
Zero2Cool (8h) : Colts are signing Vikings S Cam Bynum
buckeyepackfan (8h) : "Stupid Money" week underway. Let's see if Gute can pluck another gem this year. #8 & #29 last year, who can it be this year? My money is on
Martha Careful (8h) : Former Eagles cornerback Darius Slay is signing with the Steelers, per Jordan Schultz.
Martha Careful (8h) : Sam Darnold is off to the Seattle Seahawks. It’s a three-year, $110.5 m 55m guaranteed.
beast (8h) : Yeah, Adebo has high risk, high reward, longs of INTs but also lots of getting burned deep... I was going to be surprised if we overpaid him
