Why would you not want to make it into the playoffs!? Anything can happen.

You always play to win. A great draft means it's a deep draft so if we don't get in the top 15 or whatever there will still be several players Ted will find to make us better.

The upper part of the draft is usually top heavy with QB's, WR's, and CB's, so unless the draft is weak in the areas of OL and DL there should be some strong talent left where we need it most.

The one exception is at DE where the real pass rushing guys go early but I would not sit here and say I would want to go through a mediocre season to get one. Besides, Ted usually does a lot of good in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds so if this is a deep draft you can bet he will make some improvements.

Would you prefer the Packer get in the Playoffs this year and take their chances, depleted as we are?

Yes. I think the last few years have proven that the "best" team doesn't always win the Super Bowl. Get into the playoffs, and anything can happen. The Steelers in '05( 6 seed), and the Giants last year (5 seed) are good examples.

While that's true to some extent, bad teams don't win titles either. Just getting into the playoffs isn't enough if you have serious flaws. It's more about being a good team all year and peaking at the right time. New England was playing better football early than late, and it caught up to them when they ran into a Giants team playing its best football at the end of the year.

I always prefer to see GB in the playoffs, but I think what's more likely to happen this year isn't either option. We finish around .500 in the middle of the pack (no pun intended) and don't make the playoffs or have a great draft position.

I want to win now, or at least bust serious ass trying to do so.

Then I'd like to see Ted spend some money in the FA market next year -- I'd much rather see a proven guard or DE brought into the fold than to take a flyer on a kid who hasn't seen NFL-level competition.

For now, at least, I firmly believe that if we can get healthy we can make a serious run at the playoffs, and at that point -- as others have said -- anything can happen. BUT, there's a chance we won't get healthy enough to do that, or even suffer from more injuries (I clearly remember waiting and waiting in '05 for us to get healthy, and it just never happened).

Even then, though, I just don't see this team falling apart to the extent that we would get a high enough draft position to get someone really special (note: I haven't even looked at who's going to be available in the draft yet, so I don't know how deep it'll be). So I don't see us in the top 10, playoffs or no.

I'm babbling, sorry -- I voted Playoffs this year. I don't think we're in need of more young talent at this point, we're loaded in that regard.

I want to win every game all the time.

I think you do your maneuvering off the field. Who you pick up, you you trade for or away, who you draft, etc.

On the field, you try and win. Period.

Considering there is no dominant team in this league and the Giants just got their asses pounded by the Browns why wouldn't you want to make it to the dance with a shot at the Super Bowl? I also think being a playoff contender also attracts Free Agents. Green Bay has a hard time attracting players unless they over pay, which is not likely to happen.

Playoffs, we'll have a great draft anyway. What I really want though is a sweep of the Bears and Vikings.

This is a good question, bad poll!

If we have a solid core of a team on the rise, I say playoffs.
If we have a team like the one Sherman had that managed to get into the playoffs only to get embarrassed. I say draft.

It's not even a hard question. Gotta make the playoffs. Even if it is a 1 and out.
Do your homework and you will have a quality draft.
Donald Driver, Mark Tauscher 7th round.
Aaron Kampman 5th round
Other teams:
Shannon Sharpe 7th round
Tom Brady, Adalius Thomas, Al Harris (by Tampa) 6th round
Mike Webster 5th round
And there are many more. (No time to research right now.)

One thing I see in the upcoming draft is depth where we do need help and that's OL and DE. I think we can end up with one of each although I won't predict what Ted will do though ever again. He's the premiere "best available" GM out there and pretty much shown he won't waiver.

I do see a top flight DE pass rush guy early though. They are there.
