I think Jennings is making him look a bit better than he really is....

Thank You.

And your claiming he hasn't thrown an incomplete deep pass yet isn't as biased the other way? How about the ball he shortarmed to Jennings two weeks ago in the loss to the Falcons? Rodgers has played well and has shown great accuracy, but let's not hyperbolize it.

How am I being Biased. This thread is NOT about Brett Favre. It's about Rodgers ability to throw the deep balls, and also remember that we had one called back to Driver. But when we go over top, weather it's 20 yards or 60 yards it seems we always make the plays.

Actually it's 8 out of 15 on those plays. Half is nowhere near every time unless you're letting bias skew your opinion. And where did I mention Favre?

"Roddyboy" wrote:

I'm using my eyes. I'm not necessarily talking about long passes necessarily. But over the top passes where it's man on man coverage deep down field. I'm not talking about say a pass 30 yards down field on a crossing play. I'm sure you've watched the games and know what I mean, we don't attempt them often, but when we do, we nail them.

And ESPN's Merrill Hoge said that Aaron didn't have the arm
strength NOR the accuracy to complete deep ball passes.

And he's the "expert"

I think some people have a selective memory of Favre. He was a very good deep ball thrower, but not a great one. I think Rodgers is a little better, at least so far, but you could probably make a case for either. Stats only tell part of the story. Certainly the throws to Jennings on Sunday and Driver the week before were perfect. Neither receiver was very much open.

I still think Favre is the best I've ever seen at throwing slants and timing patterns. But the fact that we can even have these discussions is evidence of how well Rodgers is playing.

I forgot. Rodger's can't be complemented without comparing him to Favre.

Rodger's isn't allowed to be good because Lord Favre is a legend.

Makes sense.

+1. Good comments Greg.

Yeah, I would agree with that sentiment. Favre's better in the slant and Rodgers is marginally better on the deep balls. But imagine Rodgers' deep balls in 3 years time after he's matured (and Jennings/Jones/Nelson too). It's gonna get scary.

I agree with everything you said. Technically I think Rodgers is "good" at slants and curls, maybe even VERY good. But I don't think there was any better then Brett Favre in his prime at slants and curls. I think Rodgers may be a bit better at throwing out routes and deep balls. I'm very happy knowing that for the next 10 years or more, I can be hopeful that we have successful passed a torch onto another up and coming QB. Do they play the same way? nope, but they are both very good at what they do. I was the biggest Favre fan and now I'm a Rodgers fan. Can't we all be proud to have brought up 2 good QB's, proven thus far? I think it speaks volumes for this organization.

I'll say this for Aaron too. He's hit the deep balls without much running threat to help the playaction. Most of his deep balls have been fit in tight windows. That one to Driver td may of been one of the most accurate throws I've ever seen

During the offseason, they changed the offense to feature the Out Route more because that was one of Rodgers' strongest throws.

Lets see......Roddy thinks that when Favre threw to Jennings, and Jennings caught it, it was because Favre was so good.
When Rodgers does the same thing (which he's done several times this year already) it's only because Jennings is so good.
HUH?????

Again though.....he's consistant. We KNOW what to expect from him.
Love's Favre, hates TT.
Those 5 words pretty much sum up ALL his posts on this site.
If you took his posts that talk about anything else, he MIGHT have 5 or 6 total.
