The Green Bay Packers kicked off their minicamp this morning, the final step in their offseason program.

Three players who have been missing for all or nearly all of the voluntary offseason program were restricted free agents Atari Bigby, Johnny Jolly and Tramon Williams. It went down to the deadline, but Jolly and Williams signed their tenders last week. Bigby remains unsigned with third-round draft pick Morgan Burnett benefitting with each passing day.

Williams is the only one of the three RFAs on the field for the Packers, according to a tweet by Jason Wilde of ESPN Milwaukee. Williams could be a starter if Al Harris is still working his way back from a torn ACL at the start of the season. Bigbys situation isnt as clear cut. The Packers didnt have a significant need at the safety position and they drafted Burnett because of his value at No. 71 overall. It will be interesting to see how that competition shakes out in training camp.

Jolly remains excused by coach Mike McCarthy as he prepares for his felony drug trial in Harris County, Texas, next month.

Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

But we're getting more depth by the rookie getting reps, right? Bigby will be around. He's a total team player. My bet is he's there within a couple days of training camp starting.

Yeah I definitely think Bigby will be in there by training camp. He doesn't want to lose that starting job.

Could make the battle more interesting with Burnette getting the extra reps. At least it will help if he has to play. Actually I hope he wins the starting job because that would mean we have improved at that position. Nothing against Bigby, just want the Packes to get better.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

As for Tramon, in my opinion, his play has be OK. I thought his tender was pretty much in line with his play, if anything a little on the generous side. It's up to him to earn a big contract this year. He'll get what he deserves as quickly as he could hope. If he can't play well enough to keep Harris out of the starting lineup, with the severe injurry he had, I would say it does not bode well.

True. It's just me.

2005 has made me paranoid about depth.
