Someone please explain to me why Nebraska going to the Big 10 would be the end of the Big 12. Would anyone even notice they were gone?

I think other schools would get all pissy about it.
U. Texas and 5 of its minions would pack up and head to the Pac use to be 10.

Ahhh that makes more sense. I just kept seeing, "If Nebraska leaves, the Big 12 is done!"

That would be like saying, "If the Pittsburgh Pirates left, MLB would cease to exist! Lol.

Baylor is the Pirates of the B12. MLB would fold without those Damned Yankees. :pukeright:

MLB has been dead for years.

The tourists keep visiting to see all the tacky guilding on the tomb. But underneath is just a bunch of rotted and termite-infested wood.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Just because the Packers turn a profit, does not mean they are all about money. There is a such thing as doing what you enjoy and getting compensated for it financially. However, many of us do what we have to in order to get paid.

I'm not implying (or is it inferring?) that the Packers (and I'm talking about the organization, not the players) only care about money. I'm just saying that it's a business. Same with any sports team or league or conference.

So Nebraska is now in the B10 (as of 2011).
Interesting.
If they break the conference east and west, they may dominate the west even with Wisconsin and Iowa in the same division.

I am not sure how it will look geographic makes the most sense:
East
Purdue, Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan and Penn State
West
Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Illinois

I personally like the idea of a Fur and Feather division and Non Fur/Feather division.

FF

Michigan
Penn State
Iowa
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Northwestern

Non FF

Nebraska
Illinois
Purdue
Indiana
Ohio State
Michigan State

You can make up your own.

How they split the divisions is going to be very interesting. I can't see them putting Michigan and Ohio State in the same division because it's the biggest rivalry the Big Ten has, and the chance of having those two play for the Big Ten title has to be appealing to the conference. Geographically it would make sense to place them together and I'm hoping that's how they do it.

And I can't see them in different divisions. Their rivalry is a big part to the conference tradition. And it would water down the conference for them to be separated.
If they were in opposite divisions they would still have to play the last game of the regular season. If they both won their respective divisions they would then have to face each other in the conference championship game the following week.

I don't think the possibility of them playing two weekends in a row is reason enough to put them in the same division. There's a chance of that happening with any combination of the 12 teams.

Like I said, I hope they ARE in the same division. I don't know why they would split it up in any way but geographically. I'm just trying to see the reasoning if they don't.
