Juicy rumors are always welcome.

I'm still a little hestitant to trade picks away in this deep a draft, but you don't get a chance to get a Brandon Marshall every day.

Brandon Marshall, eh? Interesting. I was thinking this thread was just speculation via boredom, so I never even popped in here. I'd welcome both of those rumors. Holy fuck that would be awesome. But could we keep BOTH Finley and Marshall's egos in check? Shit. I suppose if any team in the NFL could do it, we could ("Oh really? You're having issues, Brandon? I'll see you after practice. Have fun shoveling the parking lot.")

lulz.

I agree with Twinkiegorilla.

Please lay off on the "Packer people" bullshit. Was Charles Woodson "Packer people" when he came to town? No. Is Johnny Jolly "Packer people"? I don't think so. How about "Daryn Colledge"? He's a whiny bitch. Hell, even B.J. Raji has a questionable past. Ted Thompson does not place the premium on character so many Packers fans have deluded themselves into thinking. Think about it: He agonized over the choice between Raji and Crabtree last year -- is Crabtree "Packer people"?

Yes, we all like Nelson and Jones because we drafted them, but if we can get one of the best receivers in the league for cheap, there is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't pull the trigger. Certainly not on the basis of their putative "Packer peopleness" or lack thereof. Imagine how quickly Rodgers could get the ball out if he had Finley, Jennings, Marshall, and Driver (perhaps even Westbrook!) as available options. It would be virtually impossible that on any given play, all of them would be covered. If you have open receivers, you don't need the greatest line in the world, as Kurt Warner proved time and time again.

I say make the deal. Packer people be damned.

What trouble did Charles Woodson get into?
Jolly was already ON the team when his stupid stuff happened.
Colledge? Wow, dude you need to get off your damn horse bro, it's a squabble over his contract and playing time. Yeah, that makes him a bad guy.
What did Crabtree do? And now we're going to blast the GM for CONSIDERING taking a player? Can you REACH a bit more here?

If you're going to play ignorant on what the damn meaning of "Packer People" is, at least use have of your damn genius brain.

You're best two arguments against the GOAL of acquiring PACKER PEOPLE would be Koren Robinson and if you want to be picky, B.J. Raji because of his admitted weed smoking which I think was one time, maybe more.

I can't believe how fucking pigheaded some people are with this whole PACKER PEOPLE thing. No team is ever going to outright say "we want to bring on troubled players to our team". The closest you'll hear is "we dont care about the off the field stuff as long as it doesn't effect them on the field".

He mentions Charles freaking Woodson as non Packer People prior to signing??? Un. Forking. BELIEVABLE.

Listen folks, the Packers said they want PACKER PEOPLE. Stop taking it so damn literal. The Packers are building a football team, not a damn choir class. Men, especially young men make poor decisions. Who hasn't? What builds them into men is LEARNING from those mistakes. You have made a mistake. I've made a mistake. Does that mean we're not Packer People? You've wanted more money from your employer. I've wanted more money from my employer. Does that mean we're not Packer people? No, it means were HUMAN BEINGS!

If there's two players, equally talented in the same position, one of which is more of a 'bad boy' than the other, the Packers will steer towards the one with less drama. MOST teams do this.

I've hardly ever read an article about Woodson that didn't mention him as a risk because a) injury past and b) character questions. I don't know if the problems were strictly attitudinal or what (ala Randy Moss), but he apparently had something of a "bad boy" reputation.

As for Jolly's issues occurring after he came to the Packers, what's your point? If Thompson were really so concerned about "Packer people" as people on this board like to think, wouldn't Thompson have fired him as soon as he became a PR liability, as some of the more skittish of GMs in this league do? The fact is he hasn't, despite the fact that Jolly's charges have been refiled and his case has dragged on for the better part of two years.

Again, what's your point on Daryn Colledge? The fact is he's not always a good little soldier who says "Thank you, sir, may I have another?" He's pretty vocal in the media. I never said nor implied he got into any trouble. But he's done as much as some of the other players that are strongly opposed on this board for talking too much.

Koren Robinson is a great example. I could have brought him up, but I was running out of time as I was late to class. Another example is Randy Moss, the trade for whom many people opposed because of his supposed character flaws, even though he's never been in trouble off the field. But Ted Thompson did attempt to trade for him.

There are probably other examples too. My only point is that Ted Thompson is not nearly as obsessed with pristine character as some of the people seem to think who have taken that phrase "Packer people" entirely too literally.

not that i was ever opposed to the idea of acquiring randy moss but to say he never had any problems off the field is a little inaccurate. There was that 1 time he pushed a cop down the street with his car and also many other comments he made to the media

Our receiving options make the Packers' offense virtually unstoppable. All Aaron Rodgers needs is an offensive line, because I truly believe he's already a perennial Pro Bowl player in this conference.
