I think he would be a great pick up for the Pack.

He is a leader in the locker room, well liked and respected, and at 30 years old still has gas left in the tank.

I liked him a couple of years ago... but seems to have dropped off a bit but that could because they drafted a RB in the 1st round and another one later...

I think he's like Grant but runs a bit harder but is less talented.

No he wouldn't be. The guy is 30 years old and is basically a poor man's Ryan Grant.

This team isn't in desperate need for Veteran leadership. It really isn't in much need of any leadership at all.

I'm not really a big fan of taking another running back, mostly because we have so much other needs.

But if we are gonna take a RB, I suggest drafting a young guy in the draft, not someone on his last legs.

yeah lets just say I wouldn't be disappointed in passing in an older, less talented Grant.
I bet he'd be looking for a similar contract to what we signed grant to.
We are born naked, wet and hungry. Then things get worse.

I would agree, if the Pack didn't already have backs like him (Grant, Jackson). They don't need a veteran to push Grant at this point; if anything, they need a change of pace guy, but even that's debatable.

Wilson: Raiders say Justin Fargas flunked his physical

The Oakland Raiders announced on their official Web site that running back Justin Fargas flunked his physical.

Fargas has countered that by saying he's actually healthy.

The Raiders did say something nice about the former USC running back.

"Justin Fargas was a beloved Raider who performed at a high level throughout his seven seasons with the team and his contributions to the Silver and Black will always be remembered," the Raiders said in a statement. "We wish Justin all the best."

And another 30-year-old running back hits the open market.

I don't remember for sure but wasn't there another case were the Raiders said a vet failed a physical and the player attacked the Raiders saying they've never failed a physical in their life and said the Raiders were just trying to get out of the contract and saving some money?

Though I'm not sure what money they would be saving this time as there is no cap and they can cut guys with out paying any of the rest.

Oh how I disagree with this statement if it stands alone.

Why you ask?

We needed a veteran leader on that defense to step up against the Steelers or the Cards last season...

Barnett talks a good game but IMO rarely delivers in the leadership category.

Woodson is more of a leader with his play than taking the reins and getting the team focused..

Kampman and Harris in my opinion are/were the closest thing we had to a leader on the defense.. I have some hope for Matthews in this department.

IMO... we need a polarizing player of this defense to take the step to the next level.. a guy that has the defensive players ear and they take on their attitude...

That is why I am hoping they find a strong football smart safety to pair with Collins.. a veteran that can help settle these younger corners when the opposition throws a curve instead of a strike....

But since this is a Fargas thread... and last time I checked he didn't play safety.. that point is mute in this thread.

But at the same time.. I don't think you can ever have to little in the veteran leadership department unless they can't co-exist.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
