I thought I'd write a little update for people who haven't been following this thing closely.

Vikings

- Interested in RFA Marlin Jackson. Didn't get tendered, so they could sign him, even with the final 8 rule prohibiting them from signing an UFA.
- Lost Chester Taylor to FA. He later signed with the Bears.
- Due to Taylor signing somewhere else, the Vikings can now sign one UFA.
- Lost Artis Hicks to FA. He signed with the Redskins.
- Signed K Rhys Lloyd. Potential kick-off specialist.
- Resigned Benny Sapp
- LDT decided to join the Jets, after the Vikings tried to get him.
- Lost Paymah. Jennings will miss him.
- Signed Kick-off specialist Lloyd.
- Signed Lito Sheppard.

Lions

- Traded a 5th and a 6th to the Browns for Corey Williams.
- Signed Kyle Vanden Bosch. Vanden Bosch played for Schwartz in Tennessee.
- Signed Nate Burleson to a 5 year deal.
- Let starting CB Philip Buchanon go.
- Released Grady Jackson. Started 13 games in 2009.
- Traded a 5th and a 6th for Atlanta's 5th and CB Chris Houston.
- Signed FA CB Jonathan Wade.
- Traded a 7th for QB Shaun Hill.
- Lost LB Foote to FA. He signed with the Steelers.
- Traded a 5th and DE Henderson to the Seahawks for OG Sims and a 7th.
- Traded Ernie Sims to the Eagles and receiver a 7th round pick and Tony Scheffler from the Broncos in a 3-way trade.

Bears

- Signed Julius Peppers.
- Signed Brandon Manumaleuna.
- Signed Chester Taylor.
- Expected to trade Greg Olsen, who "doesn't fit Martz's offensive scheme".

Packers

- Re-signed FA Clifton. Got heavy interest from Redskins.
- Lost Aaron Kampman to the Jaguars.
- Signed Ryan Pickett to 4 year deal.
- Signed Nick Collins to 3 year deal.
- Signed FA RT Tauscher to 2 year deal.
- Signed a punter from the Australia to a 3 year deal.

Packers

- Most likely, the Redskins will sign Clifton. Packers couldn't get a deal done. (Causing mass panic in cheesehead nation... reports of mob forming at 1265 Lombardi.. 😉 )
- Lost Aaron Kampman to FA.

I want to add someone the Packers should be talking to that noone probably will even think of, We should be trying to talk Craig Hentrich about coming back home. Just a thought
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Now that would be a very nice idea. I don't think that he's coming back, but that'd be a great solution for our punting problem. He still has quite a leg.

NFP- Bucs have huge interest in Kampman

Defensive end is No. 1 target of Tampa Bay Brad Biggs

Reports right now are linking Aaron Kampman to the Seattle Seahawks, suggesting that the high-motor defensive end could be headed west to reunite with new general manager John Schneider, who knows him well from their days in Green Bay.

That very well could happen. With Julius Peppers en route to Chicago and the Bears expected to get his name on a contract by the end of the day, and with Kyle Vanden Bosch apparently landing in Detroit, Kampman is easily the most talented pass rusher on the market.

And there is one team that doesnt have a lot of money committed to players that has a lot of interest in Kampman. A league source with knowledge of the situation said that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have huge interest in Kampman and classified the veteran as the clubs No. 1 target in free agency.

It would make sense. The Bucs have a very real need for a pass rusher and with a young team and young coaching staff, Kampman is the kind of player who could come in and provide a steadying influence.

Whether or not the Bucs will get an opportunity to make a run at Kampman remains to be seen, but rest assured Tampa is in pursuit.

I just filed a quick story to our news side, and want to bring you up to date. Detroit has agreed to terms with veteran defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch on a four-year contract. Vanden Bosch confirmed the agreement during a Friday morning appearance on 104.5 in Nashville, Tenn.

(Full disclosure: My AFC South colleague Paul Kuharsky is one of shows hosts.)

Ill be back shortly with some analysis.

I must say, I do enjoy watching our once pitiful division become a powerhouse, with hopefully the Packers standing atop a pile of blue, purple and orange.

Zero2Cool (6h) : HUMP DAY
beast (7h) : Guys that have a good shot at making the NFL Hall of Fame usually get into their teams pretty fast
beast (7h) : Yeah, but is Kampman and the others in the NFL Hall of Fame?
Zero2Cool (7h) : Johnson was Hall of Fame, 2020. Should haev been in Ring a year later, not three years.
Zero2Cool (7h) : I could be wrong there though

Zero2Cool (7h) : I guess I see players in Packers Hall come way later
beast (7h) : Yeah, usually teams hall of fames are a much lower bar than the NFL
Zero2Cool (7h) : is it uncommon for Hall before Ring?
Zero2Cool (7h) : S Xavier McKinney named first-team All-Pro by NFLPA
beast (9h) : I missed it, sorry, but he got into the NFL Hall of Fame years before that
Zero2Cool (9h) : Jones took his sweet ole time!
Zero2Cool (9h) : Yeah, he's in the ring of honor, just saw video and his name is up there
Zero2Cool (9h) : Didn't they have a thing in 2023 for Jimmy's ring of honor? I swear I saw it
beast (9h) : Though if they're legitimately trying to re-sign MM, then it makes sense.
beast (9h) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty
beast (23h) : Cowboys denied Bears request
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : From what I'm reading, MM is under contract through the 14th of January; after that he's free game
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : McCarthy let go or not extended??

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : That might be it for the Vikings
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : I'm hoping for BLOODBATH. Pummel one another.
