IMO someone has to say this...

stop letting people go if you don't know you have a better replacement

The correct answer was "I thank the Green Bay Packers for the great opportunity to be part of the most storied franchise in sports. I look forward to competing in the league for a long time. It's been fun. I have nothing but respect for the organization and coach Mike McCarthy." Something like that.

He's right, thought, isn't he?

The coaching staff is very easily putting the blame on one guy and letting 10 others that are on that field at the same time come away scott free.

Now I know that his kicks usually wheren't too great, but he's not the one who's responsible for that net avg all by himself. Bush was decent at the start of the season, but appeared to fade away on STs when he player more as a nickel back. Martin played great, but only towards the end of the season. And in that stretch, he was injured, as well.

They evaluate all the players. Did anyone REALLY think they were going to tender Kapinos? Even if they were going to bring him back, why would they tender him? No way in hell they bring him back now.
If Kapinos was competent in his job and they shitcanned him anyway, blaming him for the suckage of others, it would be different. But that is not the case here. This dude was abysmal. It's like he never heard of the Coffin Corner.

Oh, he isn't that good a punter. I know that. It's just that McCarthy puts the blame on one person in that interview while the entire unit pretty much sucked. I believe that they'll evaluate everyone, but apparently, he thinks it's necessary to take all the blame away from the rest of our STs and use Kapinos as a scapegoat.

I found it a bit amusing that Mike McCarthy in a recent interview was still trying to defend their decision in cutting Ryan two years ago...

It was a mistake.. cutting a known identity for the unknown in hopes of improvement.

But instead of just manning up and admitting it, Mike McCarthy and company continue to defend it.. which then lodges it in the craws of fans yet again.

MM... your human.. sometimes we error.. it is okay as long as we learn from our errors. It is okay to admit fault at times.. it is only human.

First step in change thus improvement is to admit there is an issue in the first place.

Oh and Kapinos.. they axed the special teams coach last year.. was he the scapegoat then? Admit it... you had a less than stellar run as a punter in GB.. work on improvement instead of pissing and moaning about it to the press. Have it light a fire under your ass and prove them wrong..

No McCarthy was specific and everything that he put the blame on him for was pretty much all his fault.

"as far as too many touchbacks, not enough balls inside the 20, punts that are being returned at a 60 percent clip instead of 40, 45, which youd like to be those are the things that you can say, 'Hey, thats one individual to improve that.' We need to hold that accountable and improve in that area."

If he would have blamed him for missed tackles or for all of the 30+ yard returns or something then sure but everything he mentioned does indeed fall on the punter.

I find I'm much more positive on Mike McCarthy these days. Not yet back to my "In McCarthy I Trust" manlove of 2007, but I'm inching up.

And I attribute a big part of it to the fact I never listen to what McCarthy says in public anymore. And so when I think of McCarthy now, I no longer think "Office Space" or "Dilbert."
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
