I just heard that Sammy Baugh was recently seen on twitter mounted on a rotisserie in his casket. One year he averaged 51.4 yards per punt. He didn't suck at quarterback either, I have been told.

He was crazy, indeed. A real HoF-er.

I was hoping for us to make a strong push for Lechler, but I guess he prefers to stay with a team where he can punt after about every drive.

I don't have any problem with a punter in the third round either, tbh. I mean, don't get a project that soon, but if you have a punter who is ready and already kickin quite a good average, go ahead, take him.

Kickers and punters are the most underrated guys by far. They work about just as hard to keep in shape, yet, because they don't hit people, they they're unexciting, it seems.

If Brian Moorman was there in round 4, I'd draft him every time. And his punting isn't even that special.

Punters and Kickers are football players also just think of it this way; one of the first people busted for steroids was the punter from Carolina and now this year at the combine the kicker that benched all that weight tested positive for the roids. So see Kickers and Punters are working just as hard as the rest of the players lol
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I would be remiss and feel rather guilty if I didn't mention the most impressive punter I ever saw in my lifetime, and I know many of you remember him also.

Reggie Roby.

He was 6'3" and weighed 250 lbs. , which really stood out on the field. He caught no shit from his teammates for being a lowly punter, under penalty of an ass-whipping. I remember the commentators would marvel at the sheer booming sound that his punts would generate.

In college he was also a quarterback and a kicker, but he only threw one pass in the nfl, A 48 yard completion...thrown like a big athletic quarterback, not no girly-man punter. He was also an incredible kicker in college, oftentimes putting the kickoff through the uprights- strangely, they never used him as a kicker in the NFL. He isn't in any record books that I know of, mostly because his teammates sucked so bad at punt coverage. For example, he had one punt you would find in the "book" that netted 7 yards. He punted that sucker 77 yards, and believe me , Reggie Roby didn't roll 'em down there...he BOOMED 'em. The coverage unit was so outkicked the returner was able to run it back 70 yards. He died at the age of 43 ...I think it was in 2005.

In his prime he was the absolute shit. Major hats off to the only punter that looked like he should be either running the ball or stopping the guy that was.

You know, I don't understand how punters are so inaccurate. I can't imagine professional golfers (seems like one of the sports with the most inconsistent performance) driving a ball 100 yards instead of 250 from the tee 45 degrees off angle as often as NFL punters seem to do it in NFL games.

Seems to me that a bright young engineering student from "down under" might do some research and come up with a good theory on that.

You know anyone like that?

Good/great punters and kickers give a team a lot of "hidden" yards. Of course, if the special teams suck it doesn't mean anything.
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Golfers also don't have a bunch of 250 punders running straight at them 😉

Together with the ball being oddly shaped, snapped beforehand, so you don't have alot of time to put it in front of your foot perfectly, like said before, golfers take ages to make one shot and a football is usually bigger than an antire foot, leave alone the hitting area, while in gold, a long drive at least, has a way bigger surface than the size of the ball.

Just some things I could think off.

buckeyepackfan (32m) : I forgot, they corrected the call a week later. Lol btw HAPPY BIRTHDAY dhazer!
buckeyepackfan (34m) : That brings up the question, why wasn't Nixon down by contact? I think that was the point Kanata was making.
buckeyepackfan (40m) : Turnovers rule, win the turnover battle, win the game.
packerfanoutwest (41m) : well, he was

Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
