Asomugha is extremely over rated. He doesn't tackle, and other than 2006, he really hasn't done much. When you make as much as he does, you need to make plays. He doesn't make enough game changing plays.

You know why he doesn't tackle? No one ever throws at him, most of the tackles he racks up are from tackling some one elses guy or tackling the RB. He doesn't get a chance to INT players because no one throws the ball at him.

After 2006 head coaches realized how good he was an gameplanned against throwing to him. I think in 2007, a scout counted that 7 of 30 something balls thrown his way were caught. Even guys like Favre and P. Manning shied away from throwing at him.

He is possibly the best cover corner in the league, Revis is the only other cover corner who comes close.

He is a glorified Al Harris. Charles Woodson is a GREAT corner. He shuts guys down, intercepts passes, causes fumbles, recovers fumbles, sacks the quarterback, scores touchdowns, and is a stud vs the run.

Asomugha shuts guys down. That's it. He is over rated.

I agree with this part. And that's pretty much his job description.

I agree Woodson is the better player, but that's because he's so much better at pass rushing and stopping the run. But Asomugha is better at coverage. Woodson allows way more catches than Asomugha.

Can you really ask more from a cornerback than to shut down your guy 16 games a season? If you can, you're spoiled.

Asomugha wasn't allowed to blitz or rush with the Raiders. I think it was last year he only had one or two chances too.
