How is that not a fair statement?

A few games in, it was apparent that Frost wasn't the consistent punter they hoped they were getting.. so why not start looking then, we had a bye week in which a new punter would have had more time to team with Crosby than Frost had before game one.

I think people believe Frost was just as bad before the bye week as he has been after it. That's not true. I don't think Ted had the obvious indications that he does now that Frost is a major problem as P.

Frost was great against the Vikings week 1, and the other games it wasn't as if he was shanking punts like he has been lately. His problems were that he wasn't consistently having good hang time. For all intents and purposes, I don't think Ted had any real reason to think that problem couldn't get fixed. I really don't think their were major signs that Frost wasn't going to work out at that time. Especially if we go based on coaches saying Frost has had great practices.

At Ford Field, Frost was decent, never once did he give any indication that he was going to struggle punting in domes. Sure there was the ball sailing right through his hands incident, but no one thought that foreshadowed future problems with Frost's punts.

Against Indy, Frost was fine with power and hang time, he got two touch backs but there was no reason to think Frost would start punting 20-25 yard shanks going into the bye week.

Only recently, after the bye week that is, I think it has become blatantly obvious that Frost will not get his problems corrected, he simply isn't capable of being the Punter the Pack envisioned him to be.

That's why I think it's unfair to say Ted hasn't admitted his mistake because he has changed. I think Ted only realized he had made a big mistake after the bye week, and lately Frost has done nothing but confirm it was a mistake to sign him.

This doesn't speak a problem?

Week Avg Net
1 45.2 42.6
2 48 36
3 49 42.6
4 38 30.2
5 41 40
6 35.3 35.3
7 55.5 35.5

It was apparent before the bye if you ask me... 10 games into the season that pattern hasn't changed.. he isn't the answer and I believe it has been fair to say that a punter change would have been appropriate during the bye week.

Heck.. MM was asked going into the bye week if a change was going to be made.. it was almost assumed that one would be.

Not really trying to argue here.. just defending him at this point, I don't see the validity is all.

Apparently Mike Stock vouched for this guy and played a big role in him coming here. I say bag them both.

Frost...
Yeah, Stock said let's lose Ryan, I know this other kid. He's a good ol' boy.
Key word there is lose. Frost isn't evil, he's just inept. Hang this one on Stock.

JASON WILDE

GREEN BAY Mike Stock often compares punting to a golf swing, and that's exactly what the Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator was doing Monday regarding struggling punter Derrick Frost.

"It's just like a golf swing. You have to come back and keep doing it," Stock said of Frost, who averaged 40.1 gross yards and 35.0 net yards on his seven punts during Sunday's 28-27 loss to Minnesota. "He's got to be more consistent. He's got great fundamentals, he's sound in whatever he does technically, it's a matter of being more consistent."

Carrying the golf analogy a little further, Stock acknowledged that his saying Frost had been "good" in practice the past three weeks and "good" in pregame warmups Sunday was akin to praising a golfer for being good on the driving range and in a few practice rounds but not getting the job done once the tournament tees off.

"He's got to do it more consistently in the games. He sure does," Stock confessed.

Of Frost's nine kicks he had two post-safety free kicks as well Stock said two were "tremendously well done," a 42-yarder with 4.84 seconds of hang time that Charles Gordon caught at the 5-yard line, and a 40-yarder with 4.69 seconds of hang time that was fair caught at the Minnesota 5.

Otherwise, though, Frost had too many substandard kicks, including line-drives of 3.15, 2.94 and 3.10 seconds of hang time.

"I wish he would have punted better," said coach Mike McCarthy, who called Frost's week of practice "very good" and his pre-game session "great" as well.
Asked if he would stick with Frost for another week, McCarthy replied, "Personnel decisions, we don't ever do that here in front of a microphone."

(?) Whew. I feel safer. Don't you?

The Wilde man. Good writer.

You can say hang it on Stock, and I know he was pushing for him. But eventually you trace the steps back to TT. He is the one who puts it together and finishes the deal. If he felt strong against getting Frost, he could have stopped it.

I don't think you have to put it all on Stock...Like agopackgo4 said...Ted is the one that finalized it and he could have stopped it.

I like Mike Stock as our Special Teams coach...IMO he is a good one.
