And the only reason why Rodgers is untradeable is because there's no one in the league we could bring who would significantly upgrade our team. Not Brady, not Manning, not even Brees. There are plenty of receivers in the league, for example, who would represent an upgrade over Driver, at least in terms of overall production. There aren't many receivers who will fight tenaciously for that extra yard without losing the football the way Driver does.

But if a trade would improve our chances of bringing the Lombardi Trophy home, I'd be on board with it in a heartbeat.

Whereas Kampman is going to walk and we're getting nothing out of it.

Still, I see the way you look at it as cold.

Yes, good for the team. I'd be happy for the Packers if we did something like traded Driver for Larry Fitzgerald (hypothetically speaking) but I as a person would feel some loss.

That's what I'm getting at with Kampy. He's been a fan favorite for years. Sure trading him for someone who is better suited for the 3-4 would be good for the team, but a lot of us would feel something.

But I'm speaking hypothetically. Most likely, we lose Kampy and get nothing in return, which would really suck.

I have no problem with your seeing my perspective as cold -- it probably is. On the other hand, you should have no problem with my seeing your perspective as maudlin and, in the end, counterproductive -- which it probably is. 😉 It's not like these guys are lunchpail workers, living from paycheck to paycheck and walking home every night with their faces streaked with coal dust. They're overpaid players who live in the lap of luxury and are coddled in almost every conceivable way.

There are some individual plans I'm a fan of, but I like them for their own sake, not the teams they play for. Most of my favorite players aren't on the Packers, though.

Incidentally, I want to point out that adding the word "though" after, or the phrase "On the other hand" before, my sentence describing Donald Driver's tenacity would probably help the whole paragraph make more sense.
