Funny. This was a big deal on some blogs and got a lot of hits/attention.

Bad sportsmanship or no big deal?

Discuss.

I don't think it's a big deal. As the game ended, the celebration started, and i don't even know if he could have found Brees.
Manning did talk after the game, so i don't see it as a big deal.

Yes, it would have been nice to see him seek out Brees, but he may have figured it was Bree's time in the sun, and just let him enjoy it.

Or he might have been a jerk. LOL!
The only one that knows is Manning.

No big deal. Brees didn't have a problem with it, and Manning stated that he thought once the game was over that was time for the winners to celebrate. My understanding is that he reached out to congratulate him very soon after the game.

Various entities (who, I assume, were tired of all the "is he the Best Ever?" talk that went on before the game) seem interested in taking some shots at him, and this is just another example of that.

I didn't think it was a big deal either. But this board has been soooo slow since we lost against the Cards so I just wanted to hear someone say something.

ILike - yes, it might be a backlash against all this best ever crap. Manning not only pales to Montana or Young, he's not even the best QB today.

It's not a BIG deal, but it still IS a problem. It's unsportsmanlike, irrespective of whatever excuses Manning can come up with.

If you've lost the game, you owe it to the winner to congratulate them.

Brees talked about it later. Apparently Manning called him after the hullabaloo.

To be honest, in most situations I'd call it unsportsmanlike and classless but the way people mob the field after the Super Bowl would make it kind of hard for both of them to even find each other. The fact that Payton called Brees later to congratulate him makes it seem like Payton didn't mean any disrespect but that he wanted to get out of there.

A lot of harsh words for Manning there. I'm just curious who you think is better than him?

Floop that. I wouldn't congratulate the opposing team. They'll enjoy the win with or without my 'blessings'.

Non-issue.

Right now or the past 10 years?

I honestly think Brees and Favre technically had better years than Manning in '09, although from 2000-2010, I'd say Manning was 2nd best after Brady and Brees simply doesn't have the years yet but when both retire, Brees will be better.
