Yep, the same trash-talking Anthony Smith that guaranteed a win against the undefeated Patriots in late 2007, right before Tom Brady tore him a new one.

Since then he's been quiet.

My View:
Okay signing. Anthony Smith has 3-4 experience and simply fell out of favor with Pittsburgh DC Dick LeBeau. This moves creates a stir with the second team of safeties and probably spells the end of Charlie Peprah.

The good thing? My guess is there's no more Charles Woodson, the safety, talk.

Yeah he's a good Safety. In GB he'll learn quickly to keep his mouth shut. He's a hard hitter though, good speed.

It's a nice get considering GB has poor depth at the position and quite frankly Bigby and Rouse need to be pushed. I remember Smith in the draft and I liked him then so we'll see, but GB should certainly keep looking to add a starter somewhere. Burnett or Igor?

In other news, the Dallas Cowboys have signed DE Igor Olshansky (Chargers).

We can forget about that chapter.

Let's bring in Holliday.

Fortunately we already have the "alligator mouth, hummingbird ass" episode taken care of prior to his coming here... I don't think we'll be seeing any repeat of that for sometime. There have been some not so subtle hints that he isn't the brightest bulb in the strand, but apparently he is quite athletic, and I promise that my first thought that he reminds me of Ahmad Carrol is irrelevant, highly subjective, and totally unfair. I'm just not quite sure to who, but again, it's total speculation.

After several poor performances and blown coverages, Smith was benched in favor of Tyrone Carter.

That's from his wikpedia article, I don't know how much is true about that, but I think we have enough guys like that on the roster. :p

Anyway, I hope he pans out. I don't know what they're going to do with him, but might be the starter at SS, or at least the next-in-line when Bigby goes down.

lol, all anyone cares about is a young player saying something stupid(at least it was competitive) before a big game.

I'm more intrigued by this blurb on him: "He became known for his intense style of play and vicious tackles."

But please, lets go on about how he said something dumb.

It's impossible to judge this signing without knowing the terms of the contract. Has anyone seen them?

The truth is, every free agent is a good signing at a low enough cost. Simultaneously, every free agent is a bad signing at a high cost. As long as there is a salary cap, or even a budget, you cannot separate cost from t he equation.

For what it's worth, I like adding competition to the safety spot, but Smith doesn't seem to be a whole lot different than Bigby.

hopefully he actually tackles, instead of just trying to knock the other guy's head off.

You guys have to remember he was on the Steelers defense which is almost always in the top 3. But he has 3-4 experience so we will see what happens atleast Ted Thompson signed someone. Apperently noone else was interested lol.

beast (21-Apr) : I haven't looked into the QBs, but some have suggested Maye has some of the most extremely inconsistent tape they've seen
beast (21-Apr) : Well it also sounds like Patriots are listening to trade offers, not that seriously considering any, but listening means they aren't locked
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Maye needs to be AFC
Mucky Tundra (21-Apr) : Not liking the idea of the Vikings getting Maye
Zero2Cool (21-Apr) : Vikings HC joked that he may or may not have sent flowers to Bob Kraft. That's where rumor came from.
beast (21-Apr) : Can't tell if this is real or BS, but some rumors about a possible Patriots/Vikings trade for #3 overall
dfosterf (21-Apr) : One playbook to my knowledge. I was shooting for facetious.
beast (20-Apr) : I'm not sure they have different playbooks for different OL positions, and Dillard run blocking is supposedly worse than his pass blocking..
