With the upgrades both Detroit and Chicago has made to their defenses, I don't think Thompson can sit on his collective kiester and stand pat with the current roster. There are still going to be a few decent players out there floating around in the second wave of free agency that could definitely be brought in and contribute to the team. It's just a matter of the front office being willing to open up the purse strings a bit more and bring some people in. Woodson, Pickett, and Chillar are all quality pieces we've brought in over the past few years. I'm hoping we'll see a bit more than just Preston and Smith who didn't even make the darn team last season. (although Smith definitely should have been kept around)
