We went to training camp on Sunday evening, the defense is playing much tougher this year!

Poppinga needs to watch himself, he is making a lot of money for a backup.

Maybe so.. but damn that is the kind of defense I want to see from my Packers... Maybe waiting for a different color of jersey... but either way.. that is the type of attitude and intensity I want to hear.

Sick'em boys.

The violence is great when it is within the rules... not so great when it's a cheap shot on an injury prone player with tons of potential at a position that we need depth.

Of course I don't want him taking a cheap shot, albeit, other than the no "full" tackling rule (... Bullshit) he hit a player that was making a catch. But again.. he probably shouldn't have laid him out.

But as a coach.. I would rather have to pull the reigns back on a struggling defense than trying to get them amp'd up to play.

No full hitting.. that is like giving a pit bull a bone and telling him to gum it only.. ;)

Whether the rule is bogus or not it still creates an unfair advantage if one guy is playing within the rules and another doesn't. Which is a good recipe for injury.

I agree. I love the fire, but if it results in one of our promising players missing playtime due to injury, I will not be pleased.

The most dangerous of the fights was the last and occurred after linebacker Brady Poppinga decleated running back Kregg Lumpkin just as he caught a pass on the sideline closest to the stands. Offensive linemen Jamon Meredith and T.J. Lang immediately went after Poppinga and a near melee ensued and spilled toward the railing in front of the stands.

I love how two rookies were the ones to go and after Poppinga for the cheap shot. We are bringing in the right type of guys.

ya meredith and lang were some nice surprises in this years draft. 2 big physical guys that know how to play their position.

I probably shouldn't even say this, but we were 6-10 last year and we didn't have a damn fight all training camp, So I guess we're off to a hell of a start.

If I could make a quote of the month without even reaching a completion of the first week, I would and this would be it. This says volumes to me.

I'm not looking for a player to be hurt when it's unnecessary.

"Mike McCarthy" wrote:

So Coach, expand on this... when is it necessary? ;)

Is this the year our team takes on the personality of our coach? The tough guy, no none sense personality? I'd love for that to happen.

What coach ? I sure hope you mean Green because Mike McCarthy is a big marshmellow. All he is worried about is bad pad level lol
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I liked what i saw on tape from draft day with Lang and this just makes me smile more...He has Excellent foot work combined with great hands. He loves to mix it up and a oline sticking up for their guys is something we haven't seen in Green Bay for years.

dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.

TheKanataThrilla (27-Apr) : I think he ended up with a terrible RAS score
